Most people see more value in being fake vs. being their genuine selves in modern culture.

This is part in due to how digitization has impacted how people interact but it’s only getting worse with AI.

However there is a more much deeper and disturbing trend going on society. We are becoming more “tolerant” of certain lifestyle deviations yet ironically less forgiving of people.

Back in ancient history (yes I was alive) before social media existed you could say something stupid at school, work, among friends, etc. and it would all be forgotten in a month.

But nowadays if you put up a stupid social media post 10+ years ago it could be dug up and used against you. And no matter how much you own up to it i. e: being immature at the time, upset at the moment or even what you said fit the “zeitgeist” of the times it doesn’t matter.

So there is this weird ass sh*t going on in our culture. A biological man who identifies as “a woman” can be so called “authentic” to “herself” and use woman’s bathrooms/locker rooms. But a straight man who put up a social media post calling someone else a “fa**ot” in 2009 is in danger of life long social ostracism, getting fired from his job, etc. Even if he apologizes and says he was younger and immature at the time of the remark it doesn’t matter.

So we are living in this f*cked up times were it’s okay for mentally ill to be “real” to their delusions. Yet if a normal person expresses his true emotions and it goes against the societal grain he’s cast out society like a leper. Hence that’s why so many people act so fake nowadays. No forgiveness if they step out of line.

Social Media. Them and It are the other reason. Look at pictures in National Geographic from the 70s (filter out “it” the population control propaganda) and just look at how genuine people were before “it” and social media captured our souls like war hardened mercenaries and old prostitutes.

People were about family and culture, it was beautiful and mostly

peaceful. People had to talk face to face to get a point across, propaganda was still in its beginning stages so we hadn’t been sucked out of reality into some witch’s or sorcerer’s wicked simulation of void of darkness and despair.

My answer was going to be similar to one of the blue anons who said 99% of the western world. It really is true. The older I've gotten, the more I learn, the more real I become about life I notice that most people are not very real. Granted, I can partially understand why, seeing as the world judges people for being who they are, especially if they're very different.

The reason is because lack of community cohesion. Family ties aren’t strong anymore, families are actually disappearing and becoming smaller due to native birth rates falling and not only western countries but all over the world, however our hedonistic narcissistic culture makes communities and families weaker as our birth rates fall so interpersonal relationships are worse in the west due to social, immoral, degradation and regression

@Oncewildtwiceburned All very true. But a large reason for birth rates falling/people deciding not to have kids is because people can hardly afford to take care of themselves anymore. The cost of living continues to climb, and people of today don't want the burden of raising kids with such expenses.

Then they don’t care about a true connection with each other, they really don’t care about their community by extension of that nor their culture/tradition by extension either. I understand I lost my kids in family court shortly after taking shrapnel in war in service of my country just because mom said I was violent, no proof and made an issue if my ptsd from combat. So yeah, i understand but I don’t like it.

I understand, I myself chose not to have kids again because of what happened to me in my early 20s, I regret that now, People have chosen themselves and their money over having kids or standing up against the government, having kids and not being mindless consumers is itself a form of standing up against the government.

My guess is that it's probably like 70% of people in America are fake AF.
