The US is producing record amounts of fossil fuels right now, but he's going to open up more federal lands to drilling and fracking, and he says that'll cut engery prices by 50% within a year.

Fantasy. Oil prices are set by international markets. If you want to flood the market to bring down prices you would have to flood the entire world. Plus, organizations such as OPEC control their production to maintain higher prices which means that if USA produces more then they produces less to keep prices high.

I guess it would be possible if you invested heavily into renewable sources because you can't ship them abroad as easily. Exporting electricity loses efficiency over distance so its best used locally which means you at least have a chance to over supply a local area and bring down the costs but it would destroy the private energy sector.

It's fantasy. But fantasy is what everyone wants to hear and how they vote. A politician who didn't lie and spout fantasy would never get elected. Just imagine a presidential candidate who told the truth and said "I don't have the power to do any of the things you want me to do."

People get what they want. They want to mommy government to read them a bedtime story with a happy ending.

There are a few things a president might be able to do to temporarily bring down energy prices. But it's short term and will cost more in the long run.

he was president before when he left office gas was less than 2 dollars a gallon and gas was drilled before it was banned therby all energy prices were also raised under biden and harris

Who knows but I know energy prices were down when he was president the first time. He had that keystone pipeline going and we were energy independent. The first thing Biden did was shut down pipeline, he revoked all of the border regulations and shut down the wall Trump was building, scaled back ICE and left the border open basically.

Let's put it this way. I trust that he'll ATTEPT to take appropriate measures. Keep in mind if there are enough in the other party to block his measures he can't make everything happen. Like the wall. He was opposed constantly to have the wall blocked. He did get a lot of section built and erected but enemies did oppose it.

Just like now. Texas put a barrier in the river separating Texas and Mexico... the U. S. government sued Texas. They won't secure the border and go after the state that tries to secure the border.

I say fantasy. Joe already has energy prices at "election discount pricing"... thats one reason it is so cheap. the cover story for that is the chinese economy slowing down.

So driving the prices down further is doubtful given the devaluation of the dollar over the prior several years. If you look atthe price of everything else, the price of gas should probably be 4.00, not 3.00... min.

Prices went through the roof when the president shut down oil production in his first hour of becoming president. now we import our gas and oil when we were the world's biggest producer and sales on the open market, then senile Joe and Scamala crashed the economy and have not stopped damaging the economy for almost 4 years. How much more does your paycheck buy today than 3 1/2 years ago?

Think about how fast Biden made energy prices skyrocket. It went from 2 dollars a gallon to over 5 bucks in less than a year. Trump will do the same thing only in reverse.

He's going to ruin the economy again. He was riding off of Obama's success when he got elected and then everything turn to shit the last month he was in office. All of that doesn't happen over night. Joe Biden had to deal with his screw ups.

When we open up drilling, other nations start increasing production to bring prices down. That way fracking gets too expensive and impractical.
