I understand that it's been instilled by Society and the media of the ideas of European beauty standards meaning that lighter skin and European features are considered more attractive than dark skin as we are all very well aware of this I get it. But I just do not understand as to why it is wrong for someone who has fair skin to express self love regarding their physical appearance and their skin tone I'll give some examples of the double standards that I am speaking of.
Dark skin woman: "I love my beautiful chocolate skin and my melanin is popping, I love being dark skinned"
Society:ππππππ
Light skin woman: "I love my beautiful light skin my fair skin is beautiful I love being light skinned"
Society: "YOU ARE PERPETUATING COLORISM AND YOU ARE VERY SHALLOW ALL SKIN TONES ARE BEAUTIFUL SHAME ON YOU!"
Its such a double standard to know that it is only okay for one skin tone to be embraced and uplift over the other and light skin people are not allowed to love ourselves we talk about equality but don't want to be equal.
You're not allowed to love yourself if your light skin and have beautiful soft silky hair you are only allowed to love yourself if you are dark skinned with other features it is so unfair why is this?
