Why do Republicans believe that the fewer the people who vote the better their chances of winning are?

Republicans spend a great deal of money and effort trying to have people removed from voting rolls or being denied the right to register to vote in the first place. Why is this?

Because they know, and have known for a long time, that if Democrats show up, Democrats win. End of story. Were it not for the Senate, gerrymandering, onerous registration requirements, ID requirements, disenfranchised felons, absentee ballots, mail in voting, inconvenient timing, inconvenient placement of ballot boxes, voter intimidation, misinformation, disinformation, SCOTUS eviscerating the voting rights act and hundreds of other furtive acts they would barely be a regional, minority party. If we were a parliamentary democracy I really doubt they would poll more than 10 to 15% of the vote.

they know exactly where would it be more convenient to make voting more difficult and less would benefit them

it is part of gerrymandering and also data-mining...

do you remember when those companies were using Facebook to find out all kinds of personal data and voting patterns? that's part of gerrymandering, to re-district to convenience

and that's linked to voter suppression practices or attempts, Texas for example which is where I live... Texas is pushing for stronger voting laws, like... requiring ID... a full identification of who you are and how do you vote, and why is this? because traditionally, a red state... in the last years, have appeared some regions in which the Democrat voting is getting dangerously close to a contended territory... so, it would benefit the Republican politicians to have less people voting, because it would, most likely... reduce this risk of losing voting grounds to newly voting Democrats

It would be interesting that they believe that, because there is one logic I see: Not thinking about republicans though, thinking specifically about Trump's version of republicans. In this version of the right wing, national-populism needs to distribute and enforce disarray, the more disarray is felt, the more people will distrust the state, the world and stop voting as a result.

They know that Democrats only cast their vote once. However, in 2020, Trump encouraged Republicans in North Carolina to vote once by mail AND again in person. Later that year he encouraged all his supporters to do the same. If the vote gets through it is twice the votes to one for Democrats. If it gets caught, it slows down the count.

Democrats buy millions of votes with their welfare money. The same people who are too damn lazy to work are the same ones who are too damn lazy to vote, and the same ones who are too damn lazy to get an ID. So the Democrats have to make it as easy as possible for those people to vote.

So campaigns to make to easier to vote favor the Democrats. If those people are too damn lazy to get out and vote, they shouldn't be voting.

History. Like 2016 it won't be a case of Trump winning but the Democrat candidate losing. That's because Trump is always going to get the same amount of guaranteed votes while kamala will lose votes the way hillary did because people who weren't going to vote Democrat could bear voting for the candidate. We saw how close hillary lost, how easily Biden won and now set to see kamala either lose or scrap by.
