When should minors be charged as adults? Whats the minimum age to be charged as an adult? Should all minors have their juvenile records sealed?

I know Mike Tyson was sent to a juvenile detention center at 24 when he was found guilty of rape (although I highly question the verdict but that’s another story).

This is complex. I have no good answer for it.

If you did a sex offense, murder, kidnapping or crime against animals you should be charged as an adult with unsealed records

In my jurisprudence it is 14 yo. In reality children much younger than that have full knowledge of wrong doing.

If they commit a capital crime then they are old enough to be charged as an adult 13 years and up There are exceptions for the mentally handicapped or extenuating circumstances.

Depends on how heinous the crime is it also depends upon whether this is a repeat offender something like murder charge doesn't adult someone who's done violent acts numerous times charge them as an adult

I would think given the severity of the crime (murder, rape, grievous bodily harm) and the frequency of offense (say, dozens of robberies) we should reserve the right to try them as adults.
