Yes. Just like your tax money is used for roads you will never drive on and special programs you will never participate in. They help support the local community overall. Much like your tax money supports schools that will help to educate people in your area.

Living in a town means being part of a community. What if people did not want to support the police or the fire departments because they never have fires in never get robbed?
