It actually make sense they're the one supporting it because in their era a baby meant arranged marriage and they were no contraception as it was all illegal (in my country at least) so their view of abortion is vastly different from the modern "my body my choice" in their era as abortion and contraception were illegal but they had to give sex to their husband minimum 1 time per week as it was "devoir conjugal" if not their husband could divorce them and give them nothing abandoning them in the street with their children (laws used to be quite dark some years ago), also marital rape didn't exist until 1990 in France. Knowing all that coupling with the fact that women didn't work (forbbiden) and only the husband worked if the couple had 3 children it was already too much for one salaries, abortion was declared as legal for married women and couple who didn't have enough money to raised their children (that was literally the first intent of the laws desperate women calling for help as they had no money to feed their children and had no choice but to have sex with their husband as it was required by the laws so government accepted to give them abortion). They could have removed the whole "forced to have sex at least 1 time per week" or forbid marital rape but they preferred to chose the option to killed children... and at this time women had no say in anything if her husband said one things she had to follow.
At this time they didn't abort for pleasure but mainly because of money trouble and the fact their husband refused to provide for them (forcing multiple women in poor area to become prostitute to buy milk or underwear to their children) it literally have nothing to do with the whole "my body my choice" of today, today people don't use condom anymore because they believe they're too good to get sick and use abortion as a contraceptive...
My mother family literally had to eat dog food and on the day they had money to share one tiny canned cassoulet for 7 person (and the canned cassoulet was only for 3 person maximum) because her father had a blue collar job and refused to work more but he also forbid his wife from working so they had no money. In my grandmother family they literally kicked out my grandmother and arranged a marriage with their neighbor kid cause her parents didn't want to pay for her anymore. She got married at 17 and had 5 kid at the age of 22 with a husband who had a blue collar job and many people were in this case in the 50s.
So when you know all of those stuff it truly doesn't surprise me at all that the older women are the one the most in favor or abortion and fighting for it.
Sounds like some Sharia stuff. I wonder how they would enforce that. It would just be the guy's word against her's.
Jeeze!
Jesus! That sounds like a horrible situation. That is all very sad.
My dad never let my mom work either, even though she did briefly. He said it was to make her life easier, but really it was about controlling her. He didn't want her to drive either. At the time, he was spending our money on drinking and legal fees, and left us with nothing. I don't know if I ever told you this, but me and my mom were living in a tent at a campground for like 3 months eating PB&J sandwiches. Then for a while we were in an empty house and once we got kicked out of a hotel. The cops tracked down my dad and he send us a measly $20.
Wow. I never talk about that.
It was Catholic stuff, Catholic religion is ways more "harsher'" than protestantism like France is considered as a western countries but there's so many things that just don't work with the whole west things for example the whole "if she say no it mean yes" still exist here.
Too men asking women out multiple time is not considered as harassment it show they're interested and is normal behavior. A lot of things that are considered rape in the world is not considered as rape here either. Like we're really behind on so many things it's crazy, in America the whole asking multiple time is considered as toxic and the guy would be considered as abusive while is it simply the standard here which is why I was shocked of some Anglo saxon dude asking one time and then disappearing (they were like "her loss" but like it's not forbidden to show her you care or is motivated XD) I think the whole French are romantic come from this like trying hard even if you get rejected you continue to show you truly care.
yes
My grandmother didn't drive either she was forbbiden, he said she didn't need to, she only started to learn to drive when she was in her 70s
This is so similar to what happened in the 50s / 60s , and before that. That is literally one of the reasons women wanted the right to vote without their husband permission and have a bank account at their name (so the husband couldn't stole the children money to go drinking).
Our neighbor literally had to ask my family for money because her husband did not gave her money to buy his daughter panties...
You never told me no but this sound similar to what my mom and her family went through and especially what my grandmother went through
That really suck no wonder you don't like him very much.
I know, that's why they split. I was actually gonna watch "La Reine Margot" tonight
Exactly, especially since I've seen couples on TV and even in real life, the woman didn't want the man but he was so persistent she finally said YES. My mom didn't want my dad at first. But yeah, here I usually stop after two NOs.
The rape is another thing, but the persistent asking i don't think it's backwards. I think WE'RE backwards for considering that harassment.
I know. That's why a lot of the things I say to you, I would never say to an American girl.
Yeah, in Europe you often don't need to. 70 ? Damn😂
My dad said France is like the only other country aside from US where the wife is entitled to a cut of her husband's retirement money.
Yeah, when my aunt came to visit us, she took all her husband's money and credit cards so he wouldn't blow it all on alcohol. He had to borrow money from her son's wife to buy cigarettes😂
I believe it
I don't like to talk about it, because it triggers bad emotions in me.
I never said I don't like him. I don't like him when he drinks though. But he thinks paying for a trip every once in a while will cancel everything out. I had a really rough childhood. Everyone thinks I'm from a sophisticated middle class family, I'm not.
I sent you a PM about the thing I was gonna tell you last time
That's cool, tell me if this is good :)
I saw a show about protestant vs Catholic called "Fortune de France" it was about a "Huguenot" (the ways they used to called protestant) man married to a Catholic and he tried to get her to convert (like I'm still confused as to why he did not just marry a protestant woman like him).
but it was a good show
Yes, i think it work like that in majority of countries, the whole stop after one try is mainly an American things for some reasons.
maybe also Scandinavia they got some very weird law, like for example if two person have sex and participate to it then if one of the both didn't ask multiple time if the person consented then is it considered as rape by negligence (just because you didn't ask multiple time if your partner consented) that is just the weirdest stuff to me as in France people never ask for consent like if the other kiss back that considered as consent, in Sweden especially is it not enough to be considered as consent that the person reciprocate the action they need to ask it a multiple time is it such a weird concept.
Persistant asking is totally normal
I'm curious now to know which things are not considered ok to say to an American girl XD
Yes even the guy asked her "but why do you need a driving licence at your age XD"
they lived-in the countryside to go to the next town she had to walk nearly 2 hours. You need a car outside of big city
I thoughts everyone had this law O-O
That's not a bad things if he really can't handle his money XD
I worded it poorly but it's just sometime when you talk about him I feel like you're angry at him sometime.
i will check it
You haven't seen it? I've been watching a lot of Isabelle Adjani films lately. I've gotten a little obsessed with her ^^
Yeah
We have some weird rape laws here too. It's scary to have sex here or even flirt honestly. I read that somewhere, I think it was in the UK. A guy got fired for sexual harassment because he told his co-worker he had a dream about her. The UK has also gone crazy. I did that to a co-worker before 😂 The guy's dream wasn't even sexual.
Well for one that she makes you horny and that you fantasize about her and wanna see certain parts of her body. And complimenting admiring certain parts of her body. Like so many girls freak out about foot fetish. I saw a video where a French girl told another girl that she has "pretty fingers". If someone said that here, they would think it's weird. One of my co-workers got weirded out 'cuz a girl told him he has a nice collar bone.
YOU have really pretty fingers by the way ^^
I would've asked the same thing XD
Danm. I saw a video of an French girl who visited one of our Amish communities. She was confused why Americans are so fascinated with them because in France so many people in the countryside live like that.
No, I don't think so. But my dad is often wrong, so...
It's complicated.

You have to admit, there is a tad bit of irony in these protests. The supreme court ruled that abortion laws should be left up to the voters in each state. For some reason the left hates the idea of they, themselves voting on laws. They want the federal government to decide, but ONLY if the federal government agrees with THEM.
These women are pro-choice Republicans 😂
It's OK to hate Republicans and Trump, but what is this strange need to make yourself look stupid in the process?
Interviewer: Kamala, what will you do to secure the border.
Kamala: Let me be perfectly clear, I grew up in a middle class family.
Interviewer: Nice, but what will you do to secure the border?
Kamala: Let me be perfectly clear, I grew up in a middle class family.
Seriously?
"I was a prosecutor for many years"
"We had a great border bill. That Donald Trump killed."
"He was a fascist."
"I was a prosecutor for many years."
“A society grows great when old men or women plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
That's deep. Who said that
Nice
And the democrats wonder why men are fleeing the party in droves. It’s because MAGA offers them this
These women are all Republicans though😂

Not at all. Its kinda sad actually. Its like having a veteran of WW2 having to come out to fight nazism again. They should not have to do this again and they will not live to benefit from their efforts to change society.
as always... someone who has nothing to do with those rights has the most to say...
Not at all. They want younger women to have the tight to choose tht they had when younger.
Why do they care about younger women then? Young people usually don't care about seniors
@KostasKouvalis Some of those younger women are their daughters and granddaughters...
That makes sense
No. Oddly enough it's usually the old women and the women that nobody'd want to f*** in the first place that are generally the ones screaming the loudest for reproduction rights.😆
Yes, you would think inflation would matter more. You can't fornacate if you can't afford to eat.
They regret the kids they had.
No. Why?
