It wasn't something I planned for but since may I've became a activist for better working rights within distribution.
I've worked distribution in since I was 18 so 8 years. I was sick of seeing mangers talking down to colleagues and treating us as lesser than office staff that do less work for more money.
My biggest things I want to change distribution centres is better working rights and adjustments for people with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and autism as they often get mistreated and taken advantage of in the workplace. Another thing I'm trying to stop is predatory mangers at my workplace. Unfortunately at work we have a couple mangers who will almost groom young girls at work. These girls think these mangers are being kind to them and genuinely see themselves as being in a meaningful relationship with that manger when in fact these mangers are taking advantage of them being naive teenagers who don't yet see how important the relationship is from something a position of power over them.
Thirdly I want to bring in better toilet breaks for workers. Workers in a lot of warehouses including drivers will have targets to meet and are constantly on the clock meaning workers avoid drinking and eating throughout the day so they don't have to go toilet and miss there performance targets.
a lot of men at work either see me as one or the other and make a lot of assumptions about me being some left wing feminist.
Yes my campaigns are funded by a left wing business but that doesn't mean I share there views I just need someone with a good platforms backing and they were willing to support me.
I believe big business need to held accountable for the way they treat there workers and work on improving management's skills and training.
Some men assume I'm gonna be a ball breaker, some assume I'm a feminist and some think I'm really brave and smart for speaking up.
I think of myself as average person who was just sick of poor treatment and fell into it.
