Both parties brag about being patriotic, just as they always make a point of saying "God bless America". It's just empty pandering.

Both parties are neoliberal, i. e. corporatist. They don't care about the welfare of citizens. They think of citizens as resources/commodities, much like factory farm animals. They are gradually seeking total control over people's lives.

And they are both neo-imperialistic war mongers.

But over the past couple of decades, I think Republicans have more reverence for the principals on which this nation was founded and which make it unique - the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.

Democrats seem to disdain those things. They oppose free speech and the second amendment. They have embraced identity politics, which serves to divide rather than unify our diverse population of citizens. Instead of presenting an honest, balanced historical narrative, they focus on the negative, condemn the U. S. and "white" people.
They disrespect the electoral process and viciously attack the President of the U. S. and his supporters.
Yet, they hypocritically accuse Republicans of doing what they, themselves, are doing.

So, even though I don't like the Republican party, I think modern Democrats are far less patriotic and anti-American.

They collectively less patriotic than Republicans, though there are older Democrats that are Patriotic, It is the younger Democrats that are not patriotic and from what I've see the one thing they all have in common is the went to College/University. We have much the same Problem over here in the UK with the Labour Party who were once the party of the working class but now is the party of the University educated middle class,

It's wrong to define anything to a complete group, there are always exceptions.

Having said that, conservatives often show their live for country (patriotism) more than liberals. Look at what the people are wearing and carrying at a Trump rally, compared to a Kamala rally.

If you define patriotism in the way the founders of America did by example. It is a devotion to the cause of liberty not loyalty or support for any goverment.

To that end Democrats don't do so well wanting a large and powerful goverment.

@strateguy632 From an American point of view that has always been loyalty to your state first. But obviously some people particularity in Washington or those with dreams of continental or global domination have pushed for the idea of being 1 consolidated people somehow.

The closest we ever got to that was probably in the 1960's after winning a major war and ending immigration for several decades. That is not a normal condition for these united States, It never was. A fact that the various regional coalitions have long made clear.

I think claiming the way you vote makes you patriotic or not is dangerous. It's one step away from claiming anyone who doesn't vote your way is a traitor.

Democrats hate America while claiming they don't. They're the least patriotic people in the country. They don't even call themselves patriots! Trump supporters do! My mom is a Trump supporter and she considers herself a patriot

Patriotic? Both are equally so.
Nationalistic? The MAGA party by far.

Most MAGAs don't see sitting for the pledge or national anthem, opposing "in God we trust" on our currency, burning the flag, attending protest & marches, civil disobedience and criticizing the military policies as patriotic. It just doesn't compute for them. I know why but that wasn't the question.

For the most part, I'd say party is not reflective of your patriotism. However, some people who wave their confederate flags and propose a "national divorce" claim to be patriotic and I do not find those people to be.

Patriotism doesn't depend on political party. I have known both Democrats and Republicans who were earnest in their love for their country.
