When Kamala Harris was picked as Biden's VP in 2020, was she planned to eventually run for President?

Question

In US history, only a handful of sitting Vice Presidents have been elected President, the most recent being George HW Bush 30 years ago. A Vice President almost always serves their term, then goes into the private sector, writes a book, or retires. They rarely have eyes on becoming President.

So, let's go back in time to 2020, when the Democrats selected Kamala Harris to be Joe Biden's VP. What was the Democrat's plan? Did anyone then think that Kamala would be Biden's successor as President? Or just be the typical VP and someone else would be the next Democratic Presidential candidate?

Um, the most recent was Joe Biden, the  current  President (technically), who was VP under Obama.  And frankly, I highly doubt she was being groomed to run; given the... let's be diplomatic and say "grotesque, hypocritical bigotries" of her previous public career, she'd've had to do some SERIOUS image improvement to be seen as a viable option- by the general public, at least. I guess I underestimated the strength of the hold the Democrat-aligned media has on people.  Biden himself was a second Dan Quayle- a VP chosen to ensure that NOBODY tries to kill the sitting President, for fear of having  that  idiotic lunatic in charge. 2020 showed us the downside of that, when all the competent candidates were rejected in favor of him.  But Harris wasn't chosen to preserve Biden's life, but to pander to women, who (or so the DNC evidently thinks) are too stupid to realize that sharing demographic characteristics with someone doesn't mean they automatically represent you. Where's Tulsi Gabbard when you need her?

Ya know, it's hard to tell because they both absolutely ruined America on purpose any way they could and each of them haven't done anything good for Americans or America.
So we would just be getting the same old same old and probably much worse than we ever imagined.

It really boggles my mind why anyone would vote for Kamala Harris unless they are destructive people themselves and can't stand to be happy because they don't know how.

Probably the latter. In, "Lucky: How Joe Biden Barely Won the Presidency" they talk about how originally Biden wanted Klobuchar which was why he stated that he would put a black woman into the Supreme Court, but only said he would pick a woman as VP. After the George Floyd riots he was told he needed to pick a black person, and since he had already stated it would be a woman he was forced to pick a black woman. Kamala was the highest ranking black woman so despite the fact that he hated her he still had to pick her. When she ran for presidential candidate last time she garnered 0 votes. I don't think anybody would've been planning on her running for president.

I don't think so, but it is possible. Right now it is obvious that JD Vance is running with Trump so that he (JD) can become president soon. Trump's attention span is getting close to Biden's, and his dementia is getting more obvious and worse. If he wins, Trump will likely not make it through 4 years without going completely bonkers or getting us in trouble internationally.

The "plan" such as it was would've been for the corpse that is Biden to ride out another 4 years being a figurehead while other people ran the country and then in 2028 there would be a democratic primary. Harris would run but would get buried by someone who was actually competent.

The cabal currently running the country was probably salivating at getting Harris in there this way though because it's VERY clear that she has NO thoughts running through her head other than whatever her handlers tell her to believe. At any rate, she'll lose and the Dems will have a chance to reset, which the DESPERATELY need to do as they've been rigging their selection ever since Obama left.

Kamala was the original candidate that the machine desperately wanted to be the frontrunner, but she was so poorly received that they abandoned her for Elizabeth Warren and later Amy Klobuchar before finally just going with Biden in order to prevent Bernie Sanders from becoming the candidate. That support likely came with her already pre-selected as VP, because Biden almost spilled the beans on it almost immediately.

I'd thought then and still do think now that Kamala Harris was the intent all along. I'd thought that Joe Biden was always just going to be a placeholder to get her ready. I don't think the Democratic Party realized though what a soulless, charmless, lifeless, politically incompetent parasite, what an  unholy catastrophe  she really is. That was the backup plan. Original plan was for her to win the 2020 primary, then Tulsi Gabbard happened, and the DNC had to switch to their back up plan which was to make Biden the nominee and have him choose Harris as his running mate so in 2024, the DNC could fix the primary for Biden to win, then replace him with Harris so she could side step the primary process which she would most likely lose.
