For instance you hear about a war where milions of people are dying. You'll say it's horrible but deep down you really don't care because something that's happening in another country isn't effecting you personally and that's fine. You realistically couldn't do anything anyway. Only when it concerns you, then are you more likely to care about it

False, depends how that mind works and whether can empathize.
When I see people in the trenches killing each other, it's hurtful. I feel for them.
doesn't mean I do anything about it.
What could you realistically do about it and how does someone dying milles, miles and miles away impact your life
I really like to focus on what I can influence, otherwise, it's just stress. Where I lack much of anything, I can pray for them.
Specifically Ukraine/Russia... in my view of the world, USA is party to instigating the mess and their suffering thus I have a hand in. So I can vote for people that see it my way, and I did.
I can develop empathy for others suffering, which may help me to be more generous or considerate to others.
Ultimately, we are all in life together. It's not right to ignore the suffering of others. In some cases, I won't take the risks to help. In others I would... thus being aware helps support right causes, including missionary work or govt efforts by force, or monetarily.
You don't have to ignore it, but again there's not much you can do. You're not superman or someone with crazy powers who could stop world conflicts
true and false. Can pray for others. Brings peace to me and maybe has effect to them... if you believe in prayer. I don't pray enough. Its just asking God.

Being concerned for others, I decided to go on mission trip to visit and help kids. Others do this. Can create motivation.
Can't say I'd want to visit a war, but maybe if more people intervened, theyd end?
Let's agree to disagree
that's fine. I would agree with you...20 years ago.
It is true. If it does not effect t me personally I couldn't care less
