Should presidents & their loved ones be first to fight their wars?

Alexander the great was a leader who fought in his own wars.

Its too easy for tyrants to talk tuff wheb they are safe, in their high tech castles/bunkers, far away from tje frontlines of war, where the citizens of both sides are forced to fight to the death!

So should the ones with power be the first to be send to do their own dirty work?

Or should it be a pure 1 on 1 fight in the ring between the highest leaders of nations?

Also, personal opinion is if democracy is won without the freedom of choice, its not really democrazy. Im with those who see nations/religions at war as nothing more than an ocean of blood, sweat & tears above the wasteland of dead human flesh & bones. Is like human race nevet learns from history!

Then we'd only end up with thugs and war mongers in charge consistently going to war for the glory of it. Alexander the Great had zero right to invade any the countries he took and more than say Hitler did. We have considerably less wars now than we did back then.

And no, its not right to colonize. Wars should be illegal and humans should know better.

You are right, if war mongers were elected, debates would be gladiator matches were winner takes all.

Leaders who fought in ancient battles had always a Banner with highly trained and equipped men to protect them + best available armor to be protected from range attacks. With introduction of firearms their exposure to enemies started to be problematic and with introduction of conscription leaders moved to strategical command HQ positions far back.
War as game has been never fair for the poor pleb no matter where the leaders stand in war.

Same for citizens. Every country should have mandatory draft. So they know when they vote for warmongers their kids could be called up.

USA has that in place... just signed into law that the selectdive service is automatic, at age 18. Germany is enhancing theirs. your wish coming true...

Draft... don't need to pay all those people and it's not ideal because so many don't want to be there.

It collapsed, it was broken from the inside because they were tired of wars and conqoring nations.

The wars continued and they tried to conquer each other until they were eventually conquered by the Romans, Parthians and others. Last free Greek kingdom was in India until indians and invaders from the north conquered it.
