Many Western men are peddling the dream of finding love abroad as a fix to all their dating woes back home. But as the U. S. Embassy’s latest warnings and the murder of a 50-year-old activist from Minnesota show, the reality is far more brutal.

Dating abroad is often touted as an antidote to the so-called issues with Western women, really begs the question… Are these quests for romance genuine, or just a delusional escape from personal inadequacies and cultural hang ups?

The fact is, this is a serious problem that needs to be taken seriously and spread awareness to possible victims whether male or female. These American-origin passport travelers to Columbia should NOT use dating apps to hook up with the local population or else will fall into the trap of kidnappers / gang activity. I don’t care about the “running from reality”, I care about their lives & their survival. They might view Western women as ‘woke’ or praise people like Andrew Tate or whatever ‘MGTOW’ however this goes beyond that, these are real human beings getting taken advantage of and it has to be talked about.

If you are a man or woman who planned on going to Columbia to use a dating app there, my advice: Don’t. It isn’t safe to do so. Some parts of the world are more dangerous than other parts and sex is ideal bait as a couple are usually alone at the time. I can't say anything about Columbia because I am in Australia and it is Asian girls who pick up Australian men.

It is simply entirely natural for guys who spend a lot of time in Asia to end up with an Asian girlfriend or wife. For a start the Western guy will meet more Asian girls than he will Western women. So the probability is high for that reason alone.

Plus Asian girls do indeed possess desirable qualities so again the probabilities tilt towards an Asian girlfriend/wife. There are also significant benefits to just living in Asian countries. It is a lot cheaper and very good health care is available more affordably so lots of people make it their base to work from or retire there.

The passport bro meme is a fairly limited descriptor. If you go to dangerous countries, dangerous things are likely to happen.

My brother in law recently came back from Thailand with his fiancee after being away for 4 years. He works over there as an architect. He's met a very lovely Thai woman, she's very pretty in great shape and has great sense of fashion but always dresses modestly. He met up with all his friends in a local bar, basically guys and girls he grew up with. The thing I noticed was that the guys were very envious but happy for their friend, the women friends and the wives were very jealous and giving her the evil eye and giving snide comments. At the end of the day it doesn't matter where fault might lie. It simply matters what is the chance of a successful marriage and what does success look like?

With the length of the median marriage being 8 years, successful marriage is certainly evading the average man & woman. (I should say median man/woman but average conveys more). Few would rate an eight year marriage as successful, at least on the male side as it maximizes the costs and it has minimized the benefits.

So quite simply Western men and women should stop marrying each other.

This not to say Western men and Asian girls aren't able to form till death do us part successful marriages. Nor Westen women and say African men.

True , one could always say that if you are on foreign soil you may encounter problems if you are too naive, break any local laws, or are disrespectful of the locals and their customs - which seems to be the case with these passport bros or Youtubers that get themselves in trouble while abroad. There are several hundred thousand US Citizens living in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. I have a distant cousin who lives in Medellin , Colombia since 2015 and he tells me that as long as you don't look for shit and are respectful you are good.

As far as them "running from reality" I would say that these are guys that are sick of the overall aggressiveness of American women and are trying their luck overseas. God speed to them.

As for myself, I did live overseas when I was a teenager and in my early 20's ( but with my parents so I had no choice) so I can attest that there are major cultural differences between American women and foreign women. As far as attitude goes:

Most Latina women ( I mean from Latin America - not American women who are second or third generation Mexican , Cuban or what not) are pleasant to be around. Asian women are pretty good. Eastern European women are also good ( although they have a hard exterior shell that takes some time to crack).

I hate to say it but most American women (especially white women) seem to be very aggressive and on edge. One gets the impression that they are just looking for somethin to blame you for. I have worked with many different kinds of people of different backgrounds and by far it was has almost always been the white American women that were the absolute worst ones to deal with.

When a man steps out of line, these women learn to pull back their attention and care while taking control of the situation. This isn’t aggression. It’s commanding respect and seeing to it they’re not walked over, which I think all women need to do. If a man can’t handle a woman who stands her ground, maybe he’s the one who needs to adjust.

Perhaps I was too vague in my description of American women. I will elaborate: they tend to be on the defensive, surely , unpleasant to be around, obnoxious in general. In my experience the only ones worse then American women are British and Australian women. I have interacted with many women from different countries and basically any women not from the Anglo-sphere is pretty much tolerable - with the exception of Norwegian women - every single one of the ones I have met was very condescending in general.

I know a few very kind people regardless of nationality.
Like a Chinese woman who takes care of her ex husband's parents out of fear they will be in trouble.
A Finnish friend who is a total doormat to the one she loves.
My non Bio Mom who is American but surprisingly very conservative and loving person.
Another American woman who is so passionate she adopted a Mexican girl and has a son of her own. She has Crohn's disease causing all sorts of havoc but her Mormon teachings has opened her tender heart.
Only difference is on the outside. Like I will be honest, people tend to let go of the faults in exchange for the physical appeal we have of each other. For instance, we are attracted to what we don't have.

I am one of the passport bros. And here's what I can tell you of my reality.

As an average to slightly above average man by U. S. standards I am not considered attractive by the majority of American women. Which I've come to terms with. And if being honest... I don't really find the majority of American women to be attractive from a values standpoint either.

So... here's what I've found. The old adage of someone's trash is another person's treasure is about as honest a statement as I've ever heard. I have made a conscious decision to look abroad because I would rather be seen as a king in my home than as a liability. And so far... the the truth is... No. My dad used to build radio towers all over the world. He was set up in Brazil on a big project for years, and over time, integrated himself into the Brazilian culture.
