Did the election results surprise you?

I'm very surprised, as all predictions I saw had concluded that it was a coin flip, with a slight edge to Harris. I've always viewed Harris as possibly the least electable candidate in a long time. She laughs at criticism, she doesn't have her own policies, she's immature, and she's a massive liar.

In the debate against Trump, her weakness was very apparent to anyone who pays attention to body language. Her only chance was retaining a little bit of the incumbent advantage, since she was part of the current administration.

Michigan, I was sure Trump had no chance, since Whitmer is so well liked there. Wisconsin was unlikely, but Pennsylvania was a possibility, since the governor split from the Democratic party over the Israel-Palestine conflict, by choosing Israel.

I figured Arizona and Georgia would learn from their mistakes, and go back to being red, so I wasn't surprised there. And Texas, my home state, one has to be delusional, or on serious drugs to think they'd vote blue, so no surprise there, either.

I was shocked that Trump nearly took Virginia, and he took every swing state, including Nevada. The prediction I would've made, if I'd been told 4 years ago came true. Kamala Harris is just about the worst possible candidate in American history, and Trump would crush her easily. And that's exactly how it played out, he even took the popular vote. I'm very happy with the results, and I'm hopeful for the future of America with Trump as our president once again.

I wasn't surprised (though not American). The quality of the polls was clearly highly variable so I took more stock of those with an established record of being close to the actual result (AtlasIntel, Trafalger, Rassmusen). If you average garbage you still get garbage so I didn't pay much attention to Real Clear|538 etc.

I was also conscious that in the rust wall states in 2016 & 2020 the polls were too left so likely Trump would get a few points more than the polls indicated.

As Harris had to win all the blue wall and Trump only had to win one state it was always unlikely Harris would win. Toss a coin and you might get heads but getting three heads in a row is unlikely.

Harris was preaching to the choir across the world mostly. The problem with a scare campaign is that while it certainly shores up the base it doesn't capture any of the non-base.

Harris needed to win more than the base so it was a losing tactic I thought.

So the election in all those states were pretty close in 2020 to begin with (within margin of 10,000 to 20,000 votes), though I didn’t expect all to go red or all to go blue….

This was a weird election since some people in those swing states casted 30,000 votes towards third parties alone which if they didn’t would’ve definitely gone to either Trump or Harris which is weird then you have North Carolina vote in a Democratic Governor with 3,000,000 votes which is bigger than both Harris and Trump. Throughout the night Ohio, Kansas, and Iowa looked like they’d go to Harris then didn’t which caught people off guard too.

It was a weird election night and one to go down in the history books for sure. 🤷🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

After what happened in 2020 when we all went to sleep with the knowledge that Trump was our President and then waking up the next morning only to find out that Biden was our President, I guess I became shell shocked and wasn't sure if the same thing might happen again.

I watched all of Trump's rallies when he was campaigning for 2020 and thought for sure he had it in the bag.

I remember him warning Americans back then that if they don't vote for him, that China would take over America and it would never be the same.

Then we have to factor in the democrats cheating in 2020 - Trump is right - they did cheat and they tried cheating again in 2024, but this time Elon Musk was on the case making sure it wasn't going to happen again and Trump won!!! YAY!!🇺🇸☮️

You should probably stop watching fake news. Early voting results were strong evidence of how the election would end. It was very clear early on that it would be a bloodbath. Anyone that thought it was close is a brainwashed muppet that doesn't think for themselves.

If you wanted to know the truth only a few polls were are consistently accurate like Rasmussen which always showed trump winning by roughly this amount. This election was largely decided after the first debate, not even the assassination attempt on trump really changed too much.

The only real question was whether or not trump's win would be be too big to rig. I was not convenience of that fact as it was impossible to predict how many ballots would make it thou in key states.

it was somewhat surprising. i assumed after the dems spent almost a decade now to do their best to alienate straight people white people and men, Trump would actually win by a much greater margin. But it seems people can be gaslit very effectively so yeah. at least he still won. not that i'm a trump fan boy or something but what the democrat party was offering was absolutely unacceptable.

The difference this year was the voting process was closely monitored so cheating was limited.

The only question I had was could we stop the cheating enough to pull it off. Biden with 81 million votes? Cmon man wake up don’t woke up.

I wasn't surprised the media always says the democrat is gonna win or overstates their chances. And then there was the economic problems that helped the challenger. I expected it to happen I told everybody in Switzerland that wanted to talk about the election that I thought Trump would win even though I don't support him or really care about U. S. politics I just had the feeling from my past experience when I still followed U. S. politics that it was gonna happen and it did.

Yes and thus it goes to show how much of a disconnect there is from the executive branch lying to reality on main street.

The attempt to shoe horn the voters with hollywood stars and fear I thought would get enough new voters to make it close and she'd win.

Again, the polls are way way off and the experts "models" failed.

Not too surprising since she wasn’t doing the things she promised to do while still in office and not doing them so why would anyone believe her? That was her downfall right there.
