Because that is just wishful thinking. Even in the bible, the most virtuous man to ever be born did not have a life as "smooth like butter". AKA Jesus who was tortured to death for his Abrahamic morals and values.
The world does not have a karmatic system. Doing good does not safeguard your future and doing evil does not mean you will be punished. People will make value calculations to determine what they think is best for their situation based on their personal morals. Does not mean that they are good at making these calculations or that things won't go in unexpected turns but there is definitely more to this than them simply asking for trouble.
With exception to hate crimes and sex crimes, all criminal acts have external sources. This means that being pushed to commit a crime is not a choice they wanted to make, but one they felt they HAD to make either to feed an addiction they’re desperate to quit, or to get money to keep their house, or even to steal food so they don’t go hungry. It’s rarely their fault, as much as the court systems would have you believe.
You don't believe people are capable of being violent for emotional reasons or just plain greedy?
It comes off as greedy when all you see is stolen goods. Being part of organized crime means a bigger paycheck than what Pizza Hut would give you. I believe as much as people are capable of bad things, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. They meant well, and thought the cost of their actions was worth the result.
So you don't think greed is ever a factor with criminals? And what about violent crime that isn't SA?
Like gang wars? Gangs originally formed because POC couldn’t trust the police in their area as they would sometimes commit crimes against them and receive no punishment. The Black Panthers were pillars of their community, and so were the Crips and Bloods before they got into more organized crime to make funds for all of their members. I won’t deny that greed can take root in these places, but none of this would have happened if people were truly treated fairly and equally and the police are just as guilty of it now as they were then, putting out “justice” against people who couldn’t receive help like even after doing everything they were told to do to find it.
Ah so you're intentionally not answering. That's not exactly an honest way to converse with someone. I hope you have the day that you deserve ✌️
I think you missed the part where I agreed with you
The pressure of unmet needs trumps idealistic morals. Also it's a build up over time. Crime is a shortcut to power.
