Do we need to bring back zero-tolerence penalties to juveniles?

I am hearing the newer generations of youth are especially out of control and causing issues in the classroom. I have heard about assaults against teachers and staff.

I feel it is time to stiffen penalties against young offenders that assault school staff or first responders.

Assault against teachers, school staff, and first responders (law enforcement, firefighters, EMT's) should be an automatic felony, regardless of age. I believe penalties should be stiffer against young offenders and parents shall be charged as well.

I like the idea that parents be charged too. I worked in a K-12 system and there was a kid in the high school that was being bullied by another student. The Principal did nothing about this so the kid went to the police and swore out a complaint that he was assaulted which was true. The cops had to go to the school and arrest the kid and take him into custody. I think what really did the trick was that the kids parents had to take time off from work, get an attorney and go to court.

Assault IS a felony almost every instance in every state.

I'm a teacher. Some violence occurs sure but it's exceedingly rare and often incidental and unintentional.

For violent felonies, yes. (But no life without parole save at least double murder). For misdemeanours, H**L to the NO !!!111
