What is your take about guns?

These days is easier to get a gun than a taser or pepper spray

Guns are heavily regulated in Australia and I think laws vary from country to country of course. My opinion on guns? I don't own and never have and never will because my understanding would be in my country's laws guns are only for registered owners for sports shooting, registered farmers who are owners, or law enforcement/registered military soldiers. Etc.
In other words, basically in my part of the world here, and so is my thinking like a strict Californian leftie, guns just don't exist in private hands here and most likely ordinary citizens should not own, I think in future maybe even farmers will eventually be told in this Australia, and I am indifferent on law changes, to be excluded from gun ownership, same with sports shooting probably eventually being phased out, hunting being phased out.
Anyways, again, I'm no gun owner, not wanting to be, and if you ask me, the purpose of the regulation in my country is because realistically, nobody except law enforcement or soldiers require firearms.

There is no difference between a gun, a taxer, or a pepper spray except for the level of effectiveness

They are all devices made to inflict harm on people either to defend yourself or to attack someone

The gun debate tends to get people’s emotions twisted up when it’s something fairly logical and straightforward:
The decision to escalate violence is a product of circumstance and not availability.

Meaning when someone uses a gun the cause for the violence is not the iron box itself but the events that lead that person to actively inflict harm

I think they should worry more about all the people buying guns for the Cartels and then smuggling them across the borders to Mexico to arm the Cartels. They are better armed than the Mexican Government. 🙄

I really dis not want to get firearms but I was concerned about crime in my area and also maybe in the near future gun ownership will not be allowed.. I bought a hand gun and a shotgun and took a week long training course and have been to a gun range many time to practice.

I really did not want to do this but I feel safer in my home ,

While I dont think guns in and of themselves are the issue, I think it puts a lot of responsibility on people to be better than they currently are. Since these people are not taking the responsibility seriously I see the guns themselves start to become a problem. To put it bluntly, Americans as a group is just not mature enough to be trusted with a gun.

Here in NYC you just go to most corners and you can buy anything from a 22 to an M1 A1 Abrams tank. They don't go to A gun shop to buy guns legally because too much paperwork leaves a trail right to them when they use it. So the streets it is to buy a gun no paper trail. Love it when people scream for gun control when the guns are bought in the way described above by criminals and legal people who use gun shops.

Where are you getting that from? I live in California and you have to pass a background check and wait 10 days after you “buy” the gun just to be able to pick it up.
