I own as many guns as I am allowed to own. Unfortunately, in Poland, this number is zero. In theory, one can apply for a self-defence gun permit. However, the regional police force leader can reject such applications on his own, even if all formal conditions for getting a permission are met. Also, one of those conditions is to prove I am under direct threat. And "I am alive, I live in Poland and the statistics of violent crime in Poland are not zero" does not fly. If I moved to the USA, the only cap would be how many guns I could afford to have.

These days, after I got wiser, I changed my stance. Guns aren't the problem, SOME of the people that own them are!! In an ideal world, guns WOULD be outlawed, gathered up and melted down, ALL OF THEM!!! EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!!! BUT, SOMEBODY'S ALWAYS gonna have one!! We'll NEVER COMPLETELY get rid of them!!!

Personally, I despise guns and am basically afraid of them after being shot at when I was a teen. I was hanging with the wrong crowd and while they weren't aiming at me, the bullets came awfully close to me.

That being said, I do support the 2nd amendment, but I do want stricter laws preventing high powered weapons being sold as the notion they are for "hunting" is laughable. At least guns on the whole should be banned to dangerous individuals who have proven to be a danger to others (so yes, criminals) and should be the bare minimum guideline.

It’s an oxymoron to suggest that you support the second amendment but want rifles banned. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting. It’s about a free people defending themselves against a tyrannical government, and by extension protecting themselves from the criminals that the government refuses to or fails to marginalize by law.
You also used the term “high power” like someone who has no idea what she’s talking about. You could learn a lot in an afternoon on youtube.

Well guns only have one function. To kill. So yes it's the human that makes the choice to use or not. But making them is giving humans that choice.
Like a car can kill. But it isn't it's function. So we should have cars and try not to kill anyone with them.

Technically guns should only be for police and army to be used to deter bad criminals and protect. But because the baddies can get guns too it spreads the need for guns and makes it dangerous for everyone.

Also having a gun makes suicide too easy. I'd prob have blown my brains out in a moment of crisis by now if I owned a gun. Very dangerous!

I live in UK where barely anyone owns a gun. Crimes happen. I don't know if owning a gun would make more difference?
If a bad person wants something bad enough instead of breaking in with a knife, threatening you and leaving, they will break in with a gun (cos they worry you have a gun) and shoot the whole family first to take what they want without fear of being shot!
Isn't that why shootings and deaths are much higher in U. S than here?

There are more gun deaths now because everyone is terrified of guns and they don't teach their children how to handle them. The number of actual gun deaths is greatly exaggerated because if the people are scared they can be controlled. If the government wanted to ban guns and there were only a few gun deaths a year nobody would bat an eye.

They are just another tool. Sure, they can be dangerous, but so can a lot of other things, many of which are far more dangerous than guns.

A lot of people are unreasonably stigmatized by guns. They are like "Oh my God, a gun!". Then they go out and drive a car which is WAY more dangerous than a gun.

I did dangerous work for a living, and so do millions of others. The work I did was way more dangerous than a gun. I felt I needed a much higher level of concentration and awareness to be safe at work than shooting a gun.

Like anything else, if you do stupid unsafe things, you can get hurt.

I bought a handgun and a shotgun a few years ago. I bought the m for protection when my next door neighbors house was broken into. I know the local police chief so he helped me get a concealed carry permit. Iyt really should be easier to get one , especially since our crazy governor made this a sanctuary state.

It's none of your business what is illegal because you don't like guns. With that logic I would petition for it to be illegal for women to wear makeup. I just said regular, untrained citizens don’t need semi-automatic weapons that can fire hundreds of rounds in a few seconds. Hand guns and hunting rifles, on the other hand, are perfectly fine for self-defense purposes or hobby hunting. It’s the military-grade stuff I don’t think normal people need access to. Not without the training and certification to allow them to own it and use it safely.
