Has the rightful criminal ever gotten away with it (let go) due to lack of evidence?

Just like an innocent person is falsely serving time in prison, has a rightfully guilty person gotten away with it because of lack of evidence and no confession?

Are there still cases like that... unsolved and while the cops themselves feel they really have the right person in the interrogation room (the person is really guilty; is lying) but can't do anything because they find no evidence at all and they person obviously isn't going to confess. Then they can't do nothing but let him/her go and they literally got away with it.

Even worse; no evidence at all, no confession and the liar passes the polygraph test too.

not due to a lack of evidence. due to corruption by male simps and female simps in the judicial system? absolutely

just be attractive enough and people will find a way to try their best to keep you from prison or at the very least reduce the punishment as much as possible

how other people feel don't matter. just look at Emmette Till. everyone at the time felt like he was guilty until many years later, his accuser shockingly revealed she falsely accused him

there's evidence for everything. people being in denial is not the same as there not being evidence

I think myself and my others are convinced that OJ and Casey Anthony both got away with it. The prosecution in OJ's case messed up with the glove and didn't press the defense hard enough, and Casey Anthony had a really smart lawyer.

I'm sure there are others, but those are the only two high profile ones that I can think of off the top of my head. There are also those that were found guilty, the judge simply gave them a slap on the wrist.

yeah those two are definitely guilty as sin. They got away with it and very little justice (if any) was done to the victim's family.

this happens a lot. All the defense has to do is claim lack of evidence and if it is determined to be true the case could be dismissed.

I can't imagine the injustice done on the victim's family; to know the guilty party was let out, enjoying their lives and nothing can't be done afterwards.

Yes - no evidence is no evidence and the opinions of cops or others don't matter. We don't convict people based on your feelings or those of others. You will be grateful for this when you are falsely accused some day.

I can't imagine how that feels like, knowing very well that's the person that did it, you know it but can't do anything about it. Then you have to inform the victim's family the bad news of having to let them go due to lack of evidence... while deep in your heart you know the person is really guilty.
