How do you feel about the hypocrite, Joe Biden, pardoning his son on drugs and gun charges?

He gave him a decade long blanket pardon for all crimes not just for drugs and guns, but that means now he can't pleads the 5th in court and has to testify on the entire criminal conspiracy that connects the Biden crime family with the Obamas, the Clintons, and others... I don't think there's anything wrong with that. He has the power to pardon. Usually pardons are for crimes committed (there can be for the genuinely innocent, sure), so there's nothing with it, in my book.
But apparently, somr democrats are upset that Biden lied about Hunter's crimes, funnily enough. Apparently. Cuz for years people were told Hunter hadn't done anything. Now, turns out Joe lied about that?
Whatever, I haven't looked too much into it yet.

Fair enough and I partly agree. I think another good use of a pardon is for people who have committed a crime but have been in prison for literal decades and are old and I think wouldn't pose a threat to society. Like, let them live out the rest of their lives in freedom and peace.

Would you do that with someone like Charles Manson? I don't know, maybe non violent offenders who have 3 strikes against them for things like weed possession might be viable.

Good question. First wanted to say yes, but maybe not. Psychopaths maybe not. There are violent offenders who aren't a danger to society though; made a very very bad decision one time and it cost them decades. I watched a video of a man who drank and drove, hit someone and the person died. That's not a psychopath. I would pardon him.

That I can't say. I think it's a case by case thing. By virtue of the facts of the case. That's why there are different degrees, right? Homicides aren't all equal.

It still ends with someone dead. I suppose if it's done in self defense that it shouldn't be as bad as someone who plans and has intent to commit a crime. So in that aspect, yes, there are different degrees.

If you mean, someone driving drunk vs a psychotic serial killer, then I have a harder time differentiating them as someone still ended up dead and the family deserves retribution.

If there are different degrees, there are different retributions. I personally wouldn't sentence a drunk driving accident that ends in death to 20 years in prison.
But even there, there's nuance. What if it's someone who already has an extensive record of alcohol-related offenses and things escalated to murder, yeah there will be a long sentence. But - example - but a drunk college kid who stupidly and arrogantly decided to drive home after the bar, no, he wouldn't get 20 years in my book. The retribution has to be proportionate.. very much like the self-defense you brought up, proportionality is important.

There is nothing hypocritical about it. Any real father would go all out to save his son legally if the opportunity was there.

But more than that, Biden only has a few years of life left. So he has protected his son and family from Trump tyranny, to boot.
