Don't both sides believe this?

Well you always have the one side that is basically evil it will do anything and everything in their power to get what they want no matter who they hurt or take from
Did you not care about anything except for what they want
And then you have the other side who needs to try to stop them and protect the innocent the unprotected their families their properties their life
And have to become just like the above to stay alive and keep their family alive
Even on a playground fight or street fight you can always pick the winner
Most people don't like to hit other people because they don't want to hurt them that's going to be the loser
The winner will be the person that will take a distance it's either then or the other and their mindset is just that way there's no in between it's like a lion a lion pre plans and there's nothing that can stop him once he jumps into action nothing
The only thing that can stop this is the guy that protects his family once he puts them in a safe place he becomes the lion that's when everything changes
So there are wars because of greed
And then there is holy war where good versus evil where the greed is now just hate chaos destruction out of control because they want to live like that they don't like anything to stand in their way that is good or wholesome that is righteous
and the good have to be in the mindset of the evil to prevail
And if they can only do that when they know that their families in a safe spot and can't be hurt war is war in all war is evil because they killed the innocent it had nothing to do with anything
We have a manipulation war going on right now it's a holy war
And it's happening everyday to every one of us where there is always somebody who creates drama and somebody else's life to piss them off to make them angry to be just like the evil people and when they become like this the evil people are trying to bring them to their side and you do it enough times you become that person but if you know what's going on you stay away from drama judgment ignorance
Because if you have those type of people in your life if you're not strong eventually you will become like them like they say you are who you hang out with little by little they'll pull somebody over to their side it's like a plague a virus a disease... And they're starting with our children or people that don't have anybody in their lives to guide them to teach them
And one by one they're pulling them over to their side so parents teach your children who to be how to be and teach them to be a leader and not a follower
„Oh, yes, and one more thing, dear Lord, about our enemies, ignore their heathen prayers and help us blow those little bastards straight to Hell.“
- Col. Hal Moore, We Were Soldiers
Religion is a device historically used to motivate soldiers and drum up public support but it's rarely if ever the reason for war, the reason is 99.999% usually greed.
Just look at the first crusade. Do you think all those Francish knights left Francia to defeat the evil Muslims or was it grab rich territories in the middle east, richer than any they had in Francia? Today it would be the equivalent of a group of middle class guys taking over california.
Holier than thou. Consequences to actions and less belief. A lot of warped people get off when on a side there are none. If British soldiers were ripping small babies from the arms of their parents and slamming them against trains until dead in front of them during their parents journey to hellish concentration camps there would have been repercussions.

No but I like to figure out who's the good guy by asking..
What would happen if each respective side surrendered in an alternate universe?
Take Hamas and Israel.. what do you think would happen to Israel if they surrendered? What about Hamas? From that, you can see the character of the sides.
the first thing I learned about that one war in which France did invade Mexico over some cake... I did think HOLY SHIT, that must have been some great cake...
none of the wars in the past were holy, religion is a tool used by the powerful to make fools fight for them
sometimes religion can used in a good way, if the enemy is invading and to defend yourself you want to encourage your people
The immense majority of wars have nothing to do with religion.
No, of course not. The vast majority are fought for reasons that have nothing to do with religion.
No but they are all a series of misteps, hubris, historical context and opportunities
No but i will say they are often the most deadly of wars. They can drag on too.
That's tricky to defend when you're the invading army and none of your children are in danger.
Once you make the issue a holy war. You create a situation where you can justify genocide. Very sick...
no there's many wars that had nothing to do with religion
To some extent. It’s the easiest way to motivate people to die and kill
and my answer would still be NO
