USA is currently the worlds super power. That means the current arrangements of countries and alignments benefits USA and uplifts it to become a super power. The wars in the middle east is a struggle for change. Change means that the current beneficial arrangement that benefits USA would also change with the possibility that USA would no longer be the worlds super power.

As such you have one side that wants to maintain the situation as it was previously and another side that wants to change the situation going forward. USA as the super power wants to maintain the situation where as Russia who got the raw end of the deal tries for a change where they might not be the ones being shat upon.

The struggle in the middle east has a lot to do with America but not for the reasons that you think. If I had to guess then you are an isolationist, someone who think USA should focus on its own problems and let the middle east or whatever deal with itself. The problem with your thinking is that this is not the configuration that made USA a super power.

Your position is that of change. To turn USA into something that it never was previously. You could argue that it is a better future, I assure you its not, but either way you need to accept that it is a departure from what made America as the super power and "number 1" in the world.

I agree that the ridiculous scores we get involved in are primarily designed to funnel American tax dollars to defense contractors using other countries as intermediaries. This needs to stop but of course it never will. It's been going on for many many years but was never this blatant previous to the Korean war.
