Not as far as I'm concerned! It's one thing to keep the "dirty" stuff away from kids but to take away freedom oof speech JUST because something hurt a handful of people is utter bullshit!! For those that don't want to hear/see certain things, they have to option to turn away or shut off whatever it is!!

Media not being allowed to publish names of rape victims is a form of censorship and I'm okay with that.

    I will use two examples:

    - A Public School
No, when it is books that teach a new generation about atrocities, history, and about their body & health to ensure our students a well rounded and well meaning approach so we can give them a good education.

    - A Corporate Entity Running Ads On Their Platform

Yes, when there are advertisers they might not want certain video topics, imagery, or language to be associated with their product and we’ll opt to censor a few things to ensure our advertisers we are a safe haven so we can make money efficiently.

Keeping porn away from children, I support, keeping victims names secret, I support, silencing people who have differing opinions I do not support, nor do I support deplatforming people who spread bullshit. It's better to have them in the open rather than forcing them underground. I also do not support cancel culture or echo chambers.

Censoring harmful or explicit content that could harm children is often considered a necessary measure, and that is just one example.

The other issue is a lack of censorship gives people the power to act like total assholes whenever they feel like it, and that doesn't help anyone.

Of course. Censoring nude images from children is a thing.

There is a national security risk to whistleblowers like Snowden. But i don't think that ever outweighs what they're uncovering.

Depends on what's being censored. Like we don't have to see gore to enjoy a good horror movie. Sometimes less is more. The unknown is scary. But sensitive or controversial topics should be part of those good movies. Storytelling shouldn't have to suffer for the sake of that political correctness. Besides can be easier to relate to. You'll be able to see the side of every person, understand why they acted the way they did.

It really depends there's a line between free speech and hate speech. But this is why censorship is typically despised as a whole in the United States. Because Americans prize liberty. And censorship is a slippery slope.

I don't like most of what you say. But I wouldn't muzzle you if I had the option (that is not my right). I would just block you if it bothered me enough. Clearly it doesn't.

When it comes to audience age, it can. Like I don’t think a 4 year old needs to watch a movie like Hell raiser because that much exposure to gore might fuck with their heads a little bit.

Yes, some forms of censorship are legitimate. For example, it's okay if the gory details of how somehow was killed were not reported by the media.

If it protects people from harm. Those most opposed to censorship are just angry their freedom to harm others is being stifled.

i think censorship of anything is not okay except when you're harming animals and babies and possibly captives. other than that we should be able to speak, act and behave freely

Censorship is based upon the premise that you don't trust people to act & think for themselfs as they could when given information.

Therefore to justify censorship requires a believe in your own permanent superiority of judgement over the population you are selectively manipulating the information of.

This is not a stable system, both because of the abuse when it does work and because practically it just makes everyone mistrust you

No. As soon as you justify censorship it'll be used against some group of people. The left tried to justify censorship by calling it ā€œhate speechā€ but who decides what hate speech is? To some people the truth is hateful.

I think some censorship is justified. It has become the peoples censorship in shouting down views of others and that can never be justified.

Hints and tips on grooming young children should be censored.
