If you don't have reliable transportation they own you! In the meantime, we've got Seth Meyers' car that runs on water and, if you can collect the run-off (steam) you can put it back into the tank and use it again. We've got Tesla's Nordcliffe Tower which can power the entire world for free. And, since at least the `50's, we've had the tech to make the anit-grav cars that the Jetsons used to tool around in.

Thank you!!! And that is just the CREATION of the batteries/wind turbine blades/solar batteries (many just smashed in NC) , etc. They still have to be dismantled and dealt with at the END of their useful lives, which is less than originally thought!

To be a fair comparison, it probably takes a simikstpr amount if mining and processing to produce one gas or diesel powered engine.

Having said that, an EV us just another means of transportation. It doesn't pollute, but generating the electricity to power it is still something to consider.

I don't think it's accurate to say that it doesn't pollute. What it may lack in one area of creating pollution, it at least makes up for and some experts say more than makes up for pollution and other areas. The potential for poisoning water supplies for example is immense not only from the production of the batteries motors and electrical parts but from the disposal of them as well. Electric cars contain highly toxic materials.

And of course the electricity that powers them has to come from somewhere. That means a massive increase in electrical power generation (on top of the already massive requirements in the new AI age). The majority of that now comes from fossil fuels. So there was a question whether or not we are gaining anything when it comes to air pollution. The technology for "green" energy production isn't even close to being able to provide enough energy for either one let alone both. It could be 100 years before that technology can provide enough energy and it's entirely possible it will never be able to. In the meantime it's fossil fuels or nuclear both of which cause pollution and potential risks.

This age that the Democrats try to push that electric cars are pollution free is complete bullshit. And it's entirely possible they are even worse for the planet then cars powered by fossil fuels.

It's not just about manufacturing the battery. They are also mostly unrepairable. That means if your expensive electric car develops a problem that has something to do with the way it is powered, it's almost surely a write-off.

There is not enough electricity to power all those electric vehicles. Germany has reverted to burning coal and transform it into electricity. So basically an electric car has the same carbon footprint as a coal-powered steam locomotive.
