Are social medias the reason why school bullying has gotten worse?

School bullies have always existed even during ancient times, nothing new about it. However, during my time (I was born in 1987), there were less cases of suicides as a result of getting bullied at school.

I was a victim of that too (mostly getting humiliated nonstoppable, name callings and isolated from the group) during my early school years. 7th grade was the last year of undergoing that treatment and the worse school year ever for me. Yet, I never ever thought about killing myself. Instead I just wanted all to stop, to make friends, be treated like a normal human being, not some freak to be ostracized. No one deserves to have a miserable time during their formative school years. No one deserves to get humiliated at school, which is indeed harassment. I hate bullies and it's time they get a harsher punishment.

I'm going to assume that since now the bullies follow you on social medias, on your cell phone... you basically can't get away from it. When I was a kid, cell phones weren't invented yet and there was no FB. Are social medias the major reason for these ''student commits suicide after getting bullied'' stories on the rise suddenly?

I was bullied from the years 1996-2000 (4th to 7th grade nonstoppable)

Social media only affects you how you want it, you choose to interact with it so no. It can't make bullying worse as if your been bullied you can stop it anytime.

School you have to interact with its legally obligated, and home school is not a viable option 99% of the time nor is it that good.

Teachers or others actually have the worse advice, which is to just ignore them or always tell a teacher. The bullying doesn't stop by just ignoring them, hoping that they will get bored. Then telling a teacher doesn't help either; it continues.

I don't see how that relates to my point, unless your trying to say somehow that if you don't use social media you can still be cyberbullied so ignoring it don't work.
But that makes no sense, social media don't turn on by it's self and find you as if it's some haunting so yes not using it or ignoring it works fully.

Yes you need to log in to receive those taunting messages. Yet, imagine just wanting to communicate with a relative and those bullies keep following you under various nicknames, even after blocking their original usernames. That would be exhausting.

That's called not using one's brain. It's very easy to create account that's private, so you can have only people you know see. So unless they are actually skilled with stalking which won't be the case for bullies like this, it's really not a problem you can't solve.

It's pretty simple the thing you can stop at anytime is not worse nor making it so compared to what you have to deal with.

social media mixed with woke narcissism has made bullying much worse and what is regarded as tough love however is treated as actual bullying instead

I don't condone bullying but in this climate, you need the ability to "bully" to survive

Or maybe the parents need to teach their children to keep their comments to themselves and treat others how they want to be treated. If a student is quiet, talks weird, is too skinny or too chubby, was sick one day in class, it's none of their business.

yeah keep silent about the weird chubby kid and they wonder why they got rejected by their crush. if only they were told not to be weird and chubby, they wouldn't be angry and confused later on

keeping comments to ourselves is why morbidly obese models are dying early because no one dare criticize their "beauty"

But it's different when you're actually friends with that person and genuinely worried about their health so contructive criticism isn't that bad. If you're just all about humiliating them, calling them names, pushing them around and going out of your way of making their school years miserable, that's tormenting someone; that's harassment.

that would be dependent on how thick skin they are and the environment they're in but even then it's no reason to not develop thick skin when times will get tough

it's a natural phenomenon where strength of any kind dominates weakness of any kind. it's been the case for millions of years but it doesn't stay one-sided forever

Pretty much it. Once school ended, that was it. I didn't hear from the bullies until the following school day. Now they're everywhere.

I think many people are just angry as hell and have no good ways to express it. So we have bullying AND school shootings, but hey!! - the stock market is up and the rich are getting richer, so nobody cares at all!
