Does white privilege exist?

It does exist, and before anyone says anything. It's not regarding money , it's how people treat you based on your skin color. It's also not your fault , it's just how the world is. Just want to debate this a bit and see your guys input

I think 'priviledge' exists to some extent, and so does racism.

and it applies to any 'color' or culture. To reduce everything down to one or two colors and cultures is very shallow. Travel the world and read braodly and you'll see.

I don't think there's much white privilege on the battlefields of Ukraine right now. Nor on the battle fields in Central Africa for black.

I've been mistreated because of my color I'm sure, I've been credited because I fit in... some fo that is color but it's culture. And, I've felt very left out... because of culture more than color.

Explore Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Africans... various ones, black Americans, native americans of many tribes, and all the variations of Europeans generally considered white... jsut to name a few.

It's like two heads of a coin. If you go to Harlem... there's a privilege to a certain color just in acceptance and in how people look at others. If you travel down to china town and apply for a job... there's a privilege in how they will perceive you. Generally speaking, you better be chinese to get those jobs.

Lastly universally, it's a priviledge to be able to breathe air. Can thank the all mighty for that. Some of the reaosn, is wealth and timing (luck and fortune) and things I was born with. Otherwise, I wouldn't be breathing to day.

It does in some places. I honestly haven't really seen it in the US, but I saw in Quebec City and it's also prevalent in Korea from what I've read/heard. In Québec for instance I heard Asians and Natives are discriminated against, but considering those races do the same to White people I'm certainly not gonna complain or speak out against it. Korea is the only east Asian where I heard they treat Whites better then Asians even. And in Latin America, light skinned Hispanics are generally treated better. In India too, but they still discriminate against other Whites. Maybe blacks and some Natives and Indians are the exceptions, but generally speaking, I've noticed with other races, even if they're racist, they still have more respect for White/light skinned people and treat them better. But in the Anglosphere countries and Western Europe, White definitely do not have privlige. It's the minorities who have the privlige and are treated better, with the exception of Asians. And this is more systemic. I know you'll probably bring up police brutality and court bias again, but there are more systemic laws that FAVOR black and brown people then there are laws that harm them. I wonder if I could get away with shoplifting. There is a casino in my town that straight up posted on their careers page that they prefer Native Americans. A White business would never get away with saying they prefer "White people". So as a White person I definitely do not have any privlige in the US or Western Europe. In Asia they treat us like lesser, even though we still get treated better than other minorities. And in Africa there are so many black people who support employment laws that discriminate against White people and want all the White people kicked out, yet they think they should have a right to live in Europe.

That's why I have no sympathy for Asians and Africans who come to White countries and get discriminated against.

I hear what you saying and I agree for the most part. But what I'm saying is that you can live your life without worrying about it everyday. Yes you might face some or some hardships everyone does. But what I'm saying is even with the school shooters they never try to paint them as bad people. They say they are good people something went wrong. But with black people if they commit a crime they are bad. They should both be portrayed as bad

In certain settings it still exists but was improving rapidly before Obama began setting us back 30'years.. Biden did his part. GW Bush wasn't much help. Regardless of how you feel about Trump (and I don't care), he improved conditions during 45 and will even more in 47.

What exists is the same for everybody. Opinions are based on what everyone sees. You go to work and take care of your family that's what is expected. You beat the streets doing drugs that's what is expected. Privilege is earned like respect. It's not given.

You're not accepting what I am saying. Do you hear other things that are constantly putting down white men? It's society. I'm not the defender of it. I'm just trying to explain its reasons for what you call white privilege. You say it's a privilege to go into a store and not be followed around. Why do YOU think a black person is followed around. Actions are for a reason. If you owned the store and feeding your family depended on not losing another dime to shop lifters and a group of whites walked in then followed by a black person who would you be most worried about?

Even if stuff are putting down white men , that does not hinder their everyday life like it does us. They can go out and not be worried about prejudice or the cops but black people don't have that luxury. An excuse for what? I feel like many white people think it has to do with money when it has nothing to do with that. Do you get followed in stores when you enter? Do cops harras you for no reason? I cannot walk into the cafeteria at work without watching people look at me like i am the enemy. I teach in an urban college and it is mostly minority students. I get it but I don't like it and it was not like this in 2002 when I was hired. Things have gotten worse.
