Have you ever been distracted while driving?

Some history I didn't know. Apparently Joe Biden's first wife, mom to Hunter and Beau, was distracted, maybe tired... made a mistake... and pulled out in front of a tractor trailer. Handling a 2yr old myself, I can see how one would be tired, not focusing, distracted. It's worse today, with cell phones. Her and baby daughter were killed.

Everyone's been distracted and we all make mistakes. Worth remembering that person behind you might have been driving 6 hours straight or the one in front dealing with screaming kids on the back seat. No matter how careful you are your life is in the hands of everyone else on the road.

I once picked up the phone while driving. My boss called insistantly. I was so absorbed in the conversation that when I ended it, I was driving between two trucks, really close to the one in front of me and with another one following me close by. I hadn't even noticed, nor do I remember when and why I changed lanes.

Nothing happened, but I learned that picking up the phone while driving is always a mistake.

I'm too reliant on automatic safety shit. I actually have to pay attention when I drive older cars. Like my 2010. Amazing what a absolute dinosaur a car becomes in 15 years

I think an older car makes you a better driver. My first car had terrible brakes. It taught me to always keep a safe distance and be extra vigilant.

I'm constantly exhausted, I try not to rush when I'm on the road, and let the crazys go on ahead and do things before me even when I have the right of way. Just because I know how tired and easily distracted I am.
