"If you ain't better than a n***** son who are you better than?"

“I'll tell you what's at the bottom of it. If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.” -President LBJ
Agreed, from the man who hosted Martin Luther King Jr. at The White House to discuss passage of voting rights protections & civil rights act… Yeah it is very accurate.
This reminds me of Bernie Sanders who said that the Republican Party holds a more pro corporate view than the Democratic Party, he said how do you sell this Anti-Worker platform? By splitting people up…. Once you divide people into groups and factions, you ignore the fact they are your equal / fellow American which makes it difficult for you to be fighting for the same reform that both of you deserve.
A lot of people talk about how school was a ploy to get Americans into the workforce by corporations, you are right and there is an idea that we haven’t moved from that was propaganda. There was this little voice of “a community coming together with the same goal to get the benefits they deserve is the closest thing to communists”…. Clearly it was a ploy to keep workers in check for the mega rich rather than a light hearted well meaning message to take on communism worldwide, the only ones using that trigger word today are Republican Politicians interesting when you think about it so their Republican base will spout the words not giving it a second thought so the mega rich benefit while you fall behind.
Reminder for those not in the know: “March On Washington For Jobs & Freedom” was the tagline for the march that would lead to MLK Jr’s “I have a dream” speech. Clearly LBJ & MLK go together like peanut butter and jelly when speaking up for the working man.
ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY!! It explains the entirety of the GOP, evangelicals, MAGA, ammosexuals, policing, public services in the South

Funny, AZ quotes also has a picture of Johnson using a racial slur to say that he will have minorities voting Democrat for the next 200 years. I can't believe you support that
yeah... its almost like you forget the parties switched during the nixon era. i know the right wing circles want you to forget about that...
eh im done with you anyways. go away.
I was reading a bio of Churchill and his "surface racism" was apparent. But then he'd also bend the colonialist system at times to benefit the downtrodden. Not saying he was Jesus reborn. Just complicated.
LBJ's quote does have a certain logic to it.
Checks out lol
yeah there's a term for it and a lot of which happened in this past election but i can't seem to remember it. its basically the policy of 'making sure other people have it worse than me' kind of thinking
You are one smart cat
Pretty accurate actually.
