He needs to re-read the Torah. Several places in the Torah it states that the Death Penalty for murder, rape, and certain other crimes is prescribed by God Almighty, because those crimes are considered "unforgiveable".

Don't fool yourselves. Murderers, rapists, and witches go to Hell regardless of whether they claim to repent or not.

First of all, the death penalty is objectively a stupid policy and there is no benefit to having it.

Secondly, the Torah is referring to the books of Moses and is part of the old testament which while Christians read they do not follow. Christians follows the new testament. The whole point of Jesus for Christians is to absolve humanity of its sins and turn the page of the old testament to a new standard which centers around forgiveness and empathy. Strictly speaking, the death penalty is antithetical to Christian beliefs, especially since Jesus was killed through the death penalty.

In fact, the word "Law" in the English language is a term which means the postulate or rule is absolute and can never change from the beginning to end of time.

Well first of all, I AM an atheist. The bible is just another book of fairy tales to me so trying to insult me with saying "You people have zero education in theology and doctrine" means nothing. Its like a lord of the rings fan criticizing my knowledge of Tolkiens books.

But aside from that, you are wrong. Jesus, AKA whom Christians believe is the son of God (or God depending on how you want to define the holy trinity but whatever, irrelevant), criticized the old testaments laws that is contained within the books of Moses. Things like what food you can't eat, what days you can't work on, ritualism and animal sacrifices etc..

Likewise we have countless examples in the bible where Jesus outright violated the laws stipulated in the old testament such as Matthew 12:1-14, Luke 13:10-17, Luke 14:1-6, John 5:1-18, Matthew 15:1-20

He also talked smack about the traditions of following the laws and traditions in the books of Moses: Mark 7:11-13

It is also pretty explicitly said that Christians are not strictly under the laws of Moses such as in: Acts 13:39, John 1:16-17, Romans 2:25-29, Romans 8:1-4, 1 Corinthians 9:19-21, Galatians 2:15-16, Ephesians 2:15

Another fairly obvious piece of evidence is that as a rule of thumb, Christians do not follow the books of Moses. There are no mass animal sacrifices and whatnot. You can bitch and complain all you like but from the point of "established doctrine" you lose.
