What is the point of giving a tip?

They already get paid. They just want money for doing their job when they get paid already. Why do I have to give you money for doing your job? You cut my hair. Okay, good job, but wtf? I am not giving you free money.

The owner of the shop gets paid. The worker who directly helped you historically was basically a slave not even a wage slave. It was at times half the minimum wage so like $2.50 an hour when minimum wage was $6.

People in the usa love the cheapest slop possible. Still believe in the American Dream by robbing everyone else.

The way that I understand the wait staff wages is. Their “pay” is only a fraction of minimum wage. The average tips to the workers is to at least bring their pay to the minimum wage level. So I guess the tips to the worker is an incentive to do a good job in taking care of the customers.
If you want a less than minimum wait staff the next time. Don’t tip and then don’t expect good service.
Remember. You only get what you pay for!

Well, tip is just US Culture, people begging for tip because the employer don’t pay well. In most countries tip is just willingness and generosity to give because of good service by the employees.


And even in some countries tip is an insult.

In the USA? It's basically socialism under a different name, as you are paying extra, so the boss can pay the minimum.

In the more civilised parts of the world, you're giving them extra as appreciation for them doing extra.
