Are you addicted to nicotine or any other drug?

I had a surgery about 10-ish years ago to remove a bone tumor. I was strongly against having any artificial medications, but they gave me a bottle of oxycodone. I dealt with the pain for about 2 weeks, but the pain was preventing me from sleeping and I could not even move my leg without being in excruciating pain. After 2 weeks I gave in. I popped a pill. It was probably the best sensation I've felt. Better than any alcohol I've had. I felt no pain and felt like nothing I did mattered. My worries left me. It's as if all the stress in my brain was turned off. Someone could have slapped me and I could've just smiled at them. Almost like an enlightened version of me. The thing is, the sensation kinda snuck up on me, so I almost didn't realize I was high from it, until I reflected on the feelings I had later.
But after that one experience, I got addicted to that feeling. I wanted more and more. Then I didn't feel it from one of them, so I started popping 2 of them at a time. I never increased it from that because I was still conscious of the potential side effects, but I was definitely addicted to it. I cleaned that bottle pretty fast and every time now, even years later when someone mentions oxycodone, I want it. I never go out of my way to pay for drugs other than alcohol socially, but that drug definitely had me by the balls when I had it.
Certainly not nicotine , gave up in 1992 , can't believe I ever did that.
Honestly probably caffeine yes , and alcohol, I've cut right down on both , will not drink till at least 7pm , and must be complete prior to 10pm , but a functioning alcoholic only has to consume 30 plus ( standard drinks ) per week , a bottle of gin is 22 , so I'm very conscious of those numbers.
I'd really like to be zero on alcohol , but I'm a functioning addict if the truth be known , despite the sport and all else.
Due to the reverse nature of how I react to tea I would say no. And give myself a pass. I can't sleep without my last cup, but it does not wake me as a stimulant would. But benadryl doesn't make me sleepy as it does most, and the rare use if an asthma inhaler does, when it wakes most people up. I am an oddity.
Not anymore, former alcoholic and drug user, now I just indulge in a whole lot of coffee, drink a glass of wine & smoke some hashish - but no addictions.

It may not classify as an addiction, but I drink coffee and iced tea almost every day.
@OlderAndWiser
Do you make your tea with tea bags?
The reason why I asked is because I was reading that there are some particles found in the paper part of the tea bag that are bad for us humans. I sent the article to a friend on an email because he drinks ice tea and uses tea bags.
Just sayin'...
@sage2021 I make my tea using puerh tea, which is a Chinese tea that is aged and fermented, and it is the smoothest tea I have ever tasted. I buy it in compressed "cakes"

and then put it in a stainless stell infuser

I'm so interested
That's some next level tea making/drinking. And I drink a lot of tea
@WowGIrl4ever You can find puer/puerh teaa for sale on Amazon for $12-15 per tea cake. Most of what I have bought was from Amazon and my wife is is comparable to what is available in China, but cheaper. Try it and you will probably like it. It is smooth, like Red Rose tea, but a bit more flavorful.
I will
I smoke like 5 to 10 cigarettes on my days off. I only smoke 1 or 2 max at work, even though I basically have 6 hours of smoking time. I go all day sometimes without a cigarette, if I'm busy then I don't think about it. I smoke weed, but it's kind of the same. I can forget about it all day. On my days off I don't want to smoke cigarettes if I haven't smoked weed, unless I'm drunk. I am rarely drunk , even though I drink a couple shots or beers every day after work. I guess I'm the model of self-control.
nope... I don't need enhancements :D
but a good coffee in some mornings is a must :D
I drink 24 oz of coffee almost every day. And I like to smoke my tobacco pipe from time to time.
I dont have an addictive personality. I have an obsessive personality though, I might seem addicted to something for a month or two but eventually I lose all interest in it. I used nicotine for a couple of months multiple times a day and then just stopped. No withdrawal symptoms besides agitation.
Only if German chocolate counts as a drug...
I'm slowly getting off anti d's. Or at least paring down considerably. I did a ketamine infusion treatment which did wonders for my depression. Don't bother either the mail able pills. Needs to be injected
Maybe caffeine because I drink Pepsi max even in the morning lol
Nooo. I’ve never touched the stuff and don’t plan to.
yeah it’s actually on my bucket list to quit this one. I had even worse addictions I’ve successfully quit but this one I plan to tackle next.
Im Only addicted to caffeine. If I don't have my morning coffee I get a headache and I'm really grumpy
