Not many people know this. Some of the most evil and corrupt countries AND PARTY names in history have the word "Democratic" in their names. It seems that if they use that name, they are ANYTHING BUT democratic!

I wouldn't say that Democracy shines in any of these places. And some are downright corrupt and just plain evil.
The real question is why ANY decent person would want to be a member of the "Democratic" party in America. It's not only associated with some very evil and corrupt countries, but it was founded BY SLAVE OWNERS TO ENFORCE THEIR ABILITY TO CONTINUE ENSLAVING BLACK PEOPLE. And they supported every racist organization and attempt to deprive the civil rights of black people for 150 years! From owning slaves, to the KKK, to Jim Crow and forced segregation, the "Democratic" Party was behind it all.
Other than an evil person what person would EVER associate themselves with ANY party with a history like that?
I mean the Nazi party is long gone. Would you even THINK ABOUT calling yourself a Nazi?

I wish I could explain it after watching a fair bit of YT Tikhistory. He is a reformed Marxist who now likes to expose the fallacies of that thinking.
The problem is you are trying to understand a will o the wisp with this shit. At most it makes internal sense for maybe 5 secs. I thought it a good idea to try to understand how the Left thinks.
Not that I think all Lefties are Marxist because undoubtedly most of them don't want to think that hard. A meme exhausts their mental capacity. "From the river to the sea" and they are done thinking.
But all Lefties receive Left wing thought and that is Marxist.
The basic reasoning in all ideological regimes Communist, Nazism, Fascism, Maoism etc etc is that the people only come to their full realization within the ideology. The state is the perfect implementation of that ideology. So the people are fully realized by perfectly melding with state thought.
Of course Xi will occasionally have an additional thought that percolates down to the masses. It is a bit more hidden in the Western Left but it is still the same. Thoughts from on high trickle down to the college proles and they start chanting "from the river to the sea".
In their view it is a perfect democracy because the people have the same thought and the state perfectly implements that thought.
Your are thinking very wrongly. You see democracy as a contest of ideas and the people vote on which ideas win. No, no, no that is immediately wrong. The thought comes from on high, and the prole college students receive the thought and think the same.
Now that is true democracy. All North Koreans think the same. Of course they better if they know what is good for them. They may not have electricity but they do have perfect democracy.

Now you have quoted a founding father to me, maybe you can help me on something I have wondering about these couple of days. George Washington was president during the French revolution and he sensibly avoided being involved on the British or French sides in war.
But what was the American view of the French revolution in itself? Both initially and of the terror period. The revolutionary war was over in 1783 and the French revolution started in 1789 . The terror started in 1793.
Louis XVI had been a good friend to America but another country was now similarly deposing a monarch. Perhaps sentiment would be bitter-sweet on it. The US constitution was 1788 so some influence from it on France could be expected. After all there was a constitutional prototype for France just before their revolution.
If there is anything you can comment at a high level I'd appreciate. I just got interested in these aspects yesterday and haven't delved in yet. So completely ignorant.
