I do not support Russia, but if they had wanted to shoot down the Azerbaijani plane, they would have done so. The plane did not directly get shot down; it crashed due to shrapnel from regional conflicts. Although Russia has not yet made a statement, they are responsible for the crash. Recently, they have been targeting Ukrainian drones within their own borders to prevent attacks on Russian cities by Ukraine, which are being monitored by the U. S. and the shrapnel hit the Azerbaijani plane. What did Azerbaijan expect while flying a passenger plane over an active conflict zone? While I certainly do not support Russia in this war, I find the media's intent to distort the facts questionable, as if they are trying to provoke countries into further conflicts.

Aaah. How did shrapnel get near the plane one might ask? Older missiles destroy by fragmentation i. e a blast of shrapnel.
Drones are as irrelevant as ground vehicles in this case since the height they fly at is radically different.
I agree it was stupid to fly a passenger aircraft over a warzone. Especially as Russia or their proxies have shot passenger planes down before.
exactly. inevitible and more to come. risks are high!
It seems strange they can’t differentiate a passenger plane. Especially since flight plans are pre recorded. Same as the last plane crash caused by Russian forces in Ukraine.
