Universal Healthcare where people get the help they need without costing an arm & a leg wouldn’t lead to Brain Thompson’s early demise because Luigi Mangione had back surgery which made his back better though he was refused coverage making him vengeful against a broken system. IF he was provided healthcare, he wouldn’t have been provoked. He even carved into the bullets “Depose”, “Deny”, “Delay” which all reference to Healthcare Corporate Entities utilizing legal speak to get away with destroying families.

Universal Healthcare is a great thing, Insurance Companies strive off a broken system which they lobby the government politicians on Right & Left to continue the broken system so they can be the soul benefiters full stop!

Probably not, although millions more would have died from poor or slow service, if they get any service at all.

Thousands more would be killed via selectively drooped or modified services for political reasons.

For example disrupting the supply chain of select areas of the country to change the demographics to be more favorable.

It is unfortunate that like any form of gambling Insurance is a sketchy business at best. It is not however the only or even best way to finance any service. Ideally you would save, and if you can't do that you might take a lone or pay a service fee.

For insurance to work at all there must be very clear terms enforced by a 3rd party which in practice should be rare and high stakes enough as justify the cost in time & money in the few cases where it is not previously agreed.

Insurance in practice offloads that enforcement like any other contract dispute to the goverment ideally the problem is the terms of their coverage are soo broad and frequent as to not only remove price selection from the customer but overwhelm the government's ability to cost-effectively adjudicate.

This has created the mess and it is why if we really wanted to control healthcare costs, the goverment effective abandon support for such gambling.

The irony is that the German system is almost the same as the US system, with private insurance companies and private hospitals, etc. The big difference being that it works for everybody. I guess Gesetzlische Krankenkassen are like Medicare for all (which one asshole in the Senate excluded from the ACA)?

That said, I recently went to an ER in town, it was packed, so I went to the other hospital and it was empty. That should have been a massive red flag! I got disinfection and a plaster for my broken toe.

Honestly how could the difference of where the bill is sent change the outcome of medical care? From a for profit buisness that needs you to die to make a profit or tax payer health care where they only get future taxes if you stay alive.

Ultimately we get to vote into office supporting medical care. Compared to ceo on private Yacht getting new year bonuses for most denied coverages creating a profitable year that there will be punishment if there isn't another profitable year.
