Will we see a change in healthcare? In New York despite it being a blue state it has bad healthcare, high STD rates, high infant mortality rates, and a low life expectancy.

I don't think you understand what is going on.

There is nothing preventing a state from forcing everyone to subscribe to an insurance plan. Many states like massachusetts do this, as did the federal goverment for a few years.

A state could also take over its healthcare providers and run them directly if they want. Some states already do this on a small scale for say goverment employees.

All of theses efforts just impose bankrupting costs on every goverment that imposes them and all the people who must pay for it. Very wealthy states that have already driven away their poor population like massachusetts can afford to waste money on such things.

Other states find people really don't want the financial burden of their politician's choice in Healthcare services forced upon them, and abandon theses projects not long after.

It is 1 thing to desire someone else pay for and mange your healthcare costs (Insurance) on the promuse that it is somehow "Free" to you. Its quite anther agree with the trade offs they make and being FORCED to pay for it all.

Unless your generally too rich to care most people dont like that and will run away.
So the countries where this is done need to hide said costs as Europe does.

What makes you think that universal healthcare won't have insurance companies implementing it?

That's what they already do. That's what medicare advantage plans are all about. That's what Medicare supplement plans are all about. The government contracts that stuff out because it's more efficient that way.

With universal health care I don't expect that to change.

One of the biggest reasons why we don't have universal health care is because the government sucks at doing things. No matter what you think of private companies, they typically do a much better job of things than the government.

Everyone complains about the government, yet want them to do more and more. That doesn't even make sense.
