No. People need to be MUCH more connected to the COSTS of healthcare. "Healthcare for all" schemes separate people from that, and it always makes things worse.

The UK, Canada, and Australia are already rationing care. Hell, Canada is now offering assisted suicides because that's cheaper than treating people - and they've literally recommended this to healthy people just because they are older. In the UK, they have boards of people who decide if you get treatment or not based on age and cost, so this "healthcare for all" isn't really that. You also have to wait weeks for CT scans, MRIs, and other things because there aren't nearly enough of these machines to go around because they're expensive, while in any American hospital, if you need an MRI, you'll get one TODAY.

Yes, this level of care is more expensive, because it's more expensive to provide, but do you really want LESS healthcare? Note that wealthy people routinely come to the US for healthcare, especially for complicated or advanced care, because they literally can't get it in the UK or Europe. That should also tell you something.

No, not all people are going to be able to afford expensive healthcare. That's life, and it's true everywhere. Everyone is ALLOWED to buy private care, or private insurance, but, yes, you have to earn it, and you have to choose to pay for it. Not everyone CAN afford it, and many people who CAN afford it won't choose to pay for it. That's called PERSONAL CHOICE. We do also have charities, who help worthy disadvantaged people people pay for care, so many people who can't afford care still get it, but it's voluntarily that people donate to that.

If you want a more "socialized" healthcare, well, that's essentially what insurance is. Pay for better insurance instead of paying more in taxes, and YOU end up in the same place without forcing that on the rest of us.

Ration military spending the same way and this might be *slightly* more acceptable.

@msc545 I agree. We can't eliminate it entirely or anything, but there's TONS of waste and also tons of involvement in wars instead of diplomacy, because wars are better for moving money from taxpayers to influential backers. That's the crap that needs to end.

No, I have not taken anyone's health contract. I can save for my health with my income, I don't want to give it to the govt.

No, I have not taken anyone's health contract. I can save for my health with my income, I don't want to give it to the govt. govt are corrupt and incompetent.
    The reason is,
First of all, there should be subsidy on the education of doctors so that they do not get into debt. And later they should not think of earning from patients. This is not a field to earn.
And if the government keeps giving help like this, then tomorrow the poor people will ask for more help. Politicians will give them more free stuff to get votes.
This will encourage the poor to reproduce even while being poor because the government is there to give them the bare minimum of help to feed their children.
Their population will increase very fast. And the level of human development will decrease.
In order to give more free services, taxes will be increased on those who are earning even a little more than the poor. So they will get discouraged and earn less or will adopt many ways to save tax. The rich will leave the country and jobs will also decrease.
Due to this poverty will increase further.

These small things give rise to a very big incurable disease, and that is why I am against it.

The government should intervene but only when its long-term result is good. Otherwise, it is better if it stays separate

Something to consider is that in the UK thd cost of having a baby is $2000 in us dollars and $12,000 in the United States.

We have national health insurance in the UK which means it's paid for by taxpayers to thd government with no insurance company middle man. A doctor I know from the UK says that America could never do it because obesity is so prevelant that it makes it unaffordable.

Living in America I would be against paying more so everyone could have healthcare because American obesity would make it too expensive.

I live in NZ so our healthcare is subsidized and emergency care is free, plus we have accident compensation... Our tax brackets currently are:

Would you pay more taxes if it meant everyone would have healthcare?

This is all automatically taken out of your pay each week/fortnight as well. So you don't have to do your taxes. Tax returns are also mostly all done automatically.

You also always have to choice to get health insurance, go private, and pay out of pocket if you so choose to.

Single payer health care would actually be cheaper then our ass backwards system today. So we have dialysis randomly for free from nixon. Then we have Regan emergency room laws where you get treated in tregardless of ability to pay.

From their 2/3 of all medical spending is already government funded majority going to third party paper pushing companies for government job benefits. So half the hourly wages of doctors are dealing with insurance companies not actually helping people.

If elon doge agency created single payer I'd eat my shorts and never question don again.

That would mean government administration of healthcare. Does the idea of Congress telling you what you can and can't do, medically, appeal to you? That's literally what got Roe V. Wade overturned. How about having them deny you a lifesaving procedure because it costs too much, and your genetics make the cost-benefit analysis "not economically viable"?

The problem with healthcare in the US is that it costs far too much; the idea that the government running something would make it cost LESS suggests that you really haven't been paying attention. You need to drive the costs down first; THEN you can take up single-payer options, if you still want to.

    Hell fucking NO.

We are already paying more in taxes! All we got for it was stupid Obamacare. I currently have a $5,000 deductible, $10,000 OOP Max, and otherwise crappy coverage. I'm also paying $2,000 a month just for Employee Spouse.

Prior to Obamacare I had a $500 deductible, $2,500 OOP Max and I was only paying $300 a month for Employee Spouse. It is SO much more expensive now than before Obamacare.

You have to be a special kind of ignoramus to give the same idiots that made your health insurance unaffordable, and shortages of doctors and nurses more of your $$$. Our government is the problem, not the solution.

    They're fucking imbeciles.

I live in one such country and it bleeds me dry every single day as Im treated as nothing more than a work horse who never gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor because some people can’t be bothered to go get a job and still want to see doctors

It is an unnatural perversion of the concept of natural selection.

Members of any society should be contributors to that society and leeches on the money of others

So best not to open that door which is free healthcare funded by 50% income tax

Nope. The government sucks at spending money. Everyone is better off with lower taxes and getting things on their own than higher taxes and the government getting it for people. It is cheaper and better quality when you go to the market than when the government does. It is also better if companies pay their employees more and not provide health insurance; than what is currently system in America. The only reason companies offer health insurance is because they get a tax break for offering it to their employees and a tax hike if they pay their employees more money.

I would love to help and make sure everyone has Access to healthcare. However, the taxes in my country are so high that I can barely manage to pay them and make a living. Anything higher would cause a complete collapse of my small business (I'm self-employed) that's why I simply cannot afford to agree.

Oh Hell nO! Taxpayers are already overpaying so people can get free shit including healthcare, housing, food & right now people that aren’t even citizens have it better than citizens. As for me I do not want a universal healthcare system either because if everyone has it the coverage will suck. I say lower taxes for citizens that work, or veterans or retired citizens.

i actually like how it's done here in germany. health insurances are still private business with a healthy competition among them. but health insurance is mandated by law. there's different sorts of health insurance. "private" ones for wealthy people who'll just pay more out of pocket and get better service and the "public" ones for your average joe that covers most of your health related expenses. and because we have such strong health insurance lobbies, our medical pharmaceutical industry is not able to just pump usury prices completely unchecked like in the USA. so if you come here and have to pay for hospital stay, you're still much cheaper to do that out of insurance than if you had to do that in the USA with insurance.

No, socialized healthcare is crap and the only reason other countries can pretend it works is because they're living off American largesse. We provide all the medical innovation in the world and then European countries buy it at a discount because they buy in blocks and don't provide for their own national defense. That'll likely change shortly.

Nope. Not a chance. The best solution is to pay no federal income tax at all. You'd have more money to spend on the health insurance you want, and the medical system would have less expenses and thus could be more competitive.

Technically EU universal healthcare is cheaper than US healthcare.

So US citizen would pay less with a universal healthcare like eg. Germany.

But that's not taking into consideration how fat and drug addicted our country is. It's likely that our healthcare needs are just dramatically higher than countries like Germany that are far thinner and far less drug addicted. The US uses more drugs than the entire planet combined. And we're one of the fattest populations too.
