how should Trump deal with blue rebel states who defy his immigration policies
Anonymous(36-45)1 yNothing, states are not required to cooperator with the federal goverment.
That said they should lose federal funding for school unless they can verify the money only goes to American citizens.
The feds need to create a bounty system to pay states and perhaps even individuals to find and turn over illegal leans.
That is the real problem with immigration enforcement finding the illegal aliens, that will never happen without state support there simply are not enough agents nor money to hire them to find soo many.
It is even more delusional for the same reason to expect we can in anyway pick and choose which class of illegal aliens go first. You got to deport them as soon as you find them or you will never deport more than a tiny fraction of them.02 Reply
Asker1 yso why not intimidate the states into full and total cooperation, Trump can get it done,
this is exactly why the president should have the power to dismiss governors at will
Opinion Owner1 yPresidents would abuse that power to get whatever domestic agenda they wanted done.
While at the same time governors would be largely unaccountable for whatever else they do just like nearly all of the existing federal goverment agencies are. All of them being far too large and distant for any prescient to even know about much less control.
Said Governors would take atvatnage of this just like political appointees and agenciy heads simply point their fingers at the president anytime anything goes wrong and their population who had a 50% chance of not electing the same president would inclined to believe him rather than hold him accountable for being a bad governor.
So we would end up with a lot more badly run goverment. Just like nearly all of the federal government's becuracy. Worse still the people thereof would blame the federal goverment rightly or wrongly for thier regions poverty and this would drive more sectional division. As well as efforts by the legislator to make the same governorship largely pointless figurehead like the executive of Canada similarly appointed.
Canada doesn't exactly control them either, and that is a nation founded on being loyalist, unlike us well armed American rebels, constantly looking for reasons to rebel.
So what your proposing would be an unmitigated disaster. But go ahead and do that, and you will find the union falls apart within a few decades.
If you think Qubecers are constantly looking for independence you anit seen non thing compared to what Americans would do under such situtaitons.

Having a president pick and choose which people he is representing based on politics is a terrible precedent to set and will severely hurt USA as a nation.

1 yAre you sure it’s defiance if they’re just waiting? You know there’s barely 65 immigration courts in the whole of the US? You know there’s only 1 judge appointed to each of those courts that receive hundreds upon hundreds of immigration cases in a year? You know not all those judges are going to speak the same language as the immigrants, or that there’s an extremely limited number of government translators that can act in such courts? Shit gets bogged up.

Allow them to declare independence, break away from the Union and become independent countries.
If he doesn't like what they are doing, let them declare independence. Or is America now a dictatorship? I thought it was all about "freedom" ?

Asker1 yit's about our view of how freedom should be, and freedom is national loyalty to the nation and president above all else,
and remember what happened the last time the democrats seceded- 1 y
National loyalty to the president and the nation is NO FREEDOM. It's the opposite of freedom, to be exact. It's called slavery to your king...
And concerning you hint towards the civil war. The guys from New York, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, etc that wanted to abolish slavery and give black people equal rights won. Taxas, Alabama and those other guys that wanted to opress and enslave people lost. So go ahead try it again. Taxas will loose again against California.

Pretty much the point of a free modern democracy is that you do not mandate cooperation. Otherwise we would have strapped in the anti-vaxxers and been done with covid19 in a month after the vaccine was released or stuck them in prison to force them to isolate and we would have had the outbreak done even before then.

Asker1 ybut how can they resist federal authorities from doing so, many blue state governors said they were going to make it hard for ICE to deport migrants so what is the option now? force seems like the only way to get compliance

If a state is obstructing justice, the, via the court system, they can be ordered to stop the obstruction. If the obstruction then does not stop, the President is authorized to use force to comply.
Learn about the "Little Rock Crisis" of September 1957.
This is from Google Gemini:
The Little Rock Crisis was a civil rights event in 1957 that occurred when Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus prevented nine African American students from enrolling at Central High School: [1, 2]
Background
The 1954 Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education ruled that segregated schools were unconstitutional. However, many schools in the South continued to refuse to admit Black students. [1, 2]
The crisis
On September 2, 1957, Faubus announced on TV that he would use the Arkansas National Guard to prevent the students from entering the school. On September 4, the students were turned away by the National Guard and forced to go home. [2, 3]
Response
President Eisenhower ordered the 101st Airborne Division into Little Rock to protect the students. The students returned on September 29, 1957, and were able to enter the school with federal protection. [1, 2]
The Little Rock Nine
The nine students who enrolled in Central High School became known as the "Little Rock Nine". The students went on to have distinguished careers and were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by President Clinton in 1999. [2, 4]

Asker1 yyou used AI for that?
- 1 y
Sort of. I did a Google search on "Little Rock Crisis". I knew the details anyway so I was just looking for supporting links for you. However, the Google return had that above "AI Overview". I decided to paste that because it is the gist of the crisis although it misses a lot of important details.
The point to understand is that the President is the head of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. The President's job is to ensure that the laws are being followed and this comes from the oath of office that is in Article II in the Constitution:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Also in the Constitution is something called the Supremacy Clause in Article VI. It basically says that Federal law outranks any state laws which may be contrary.
So, when a state violates Federal law, it is violating the Supremacy Clause and it is the duty of the Judicial Branch to formally assert that. Once that official pronouncement is made, then the state is obligated to change. If it does not, then it's the President's job to make sure it does - and that includes using the military to do so. - 1 y
I want to be clear about something else: Immigration and border security are exclusively the domain of the Federal Government. Therefore, it is the Federal Government's job to deal with it. It is unfortunate that border problems affect border states, but the Federal Government is the one that has to deal with it.
A state is not obligated to help the Federal Government at all in this regard. But, if a state does something which adversely impacts the Federal Government's ability to do its job, that is obstruction of justice or legally similar ideas. That's a problem that the Federal courts will get involved with. At that point, either the state backs down, a compromise is reached, or the President takes action if the state continues with the obstruction.
For example, you are whining about blue states. The way you worded your question, that would be obstruction. However, we've had something similar in Texas; Texas put up that border wire to help thwart illegal crossings. While that's understandable, it's also illegal because border security and immigration policy exclusively belongs to the Federal Government. The "United States" (the Federal Government in legal documents) sued in Federal Court. Texas lost because of the Supremacy Clause. So, they had to accept Federal border agents with taking down that barbwire fencing.
