He did poorly by refusing to answer most questions.

I mean of course he isn’t going to say sexual assault is disqualifying…. They will hold him to his own moral compass.

What we know of Hegseth is, he paid a woman to be under NDA to not discuss the sexual assault. On television, this one weird congressman said “we only have his word, I’d like to see her speak out on this matter”(to that effect). The newscaster said back “so you believe Hegseth should release her from NDA to say her side?” then the congressman did a complete flip flop…. Clearly they all know how problematic Hegseth is, including Hegseth himself. Doesn’t surprise me at all, Hegseth shouldn’t be confirmed though I have a feeling they’ll confirm him regardless. This is just a bump for the time being.

*Also apparently a bunch of Hegseth accusers tried reaching out to Republican Senators just to be denied, I think transparency / seeing this from the Center before making a decision or opinion is a must so this seems highly suspect though could just be me.

considering he kept his emotions in check while his interrogators went emotionally unhinged on him with meaningless accusation after accusation, berating a combat veteran who fought in the battlefield while they sit in comfort behind their desks says more about them than it does him

He's insanely unqualified, perhaps the worst of a very bad lot. Confirming him could be extremely destructive to the military and US interests.

He really is unqualified and I think he's not very careful with his own personal habits as well. Chances are the guys going to get into a scandal in the first year of serving in that post as the chief of defense.

I thought he was very prepared and showed great restraint. He showed his common sense approach to leadership and stayed on point even though the democrats tried to smear him with anonymous stories.

I have no doubt that he will make a good Sec of Defense.

Well yes because he's got such a good prior record and he answered questions. How accurately and concisely how could he need anything but a superb secretary of defense and a great ass kisser?

It was obvious that he is familiar with the military and the VA. he was able to rattle off statistics and specifications that military leaders should know. Not like the affirmative action hires that Biden appointed.

Oh come on! You must be kidding. The fact that he could rattle off a few things is what makes him a good candidate to be the defense secretary? I think sometimes that you've lost all sense of judgment. It's very sad.

I have no idea who he is or what he did or didn't do. We will find out what scandals your guy creates or gets involved in and I don't think it will take long to find out. He isn't going to be able to help himself.

I think he did well at conveying the ideas he needed to convey. I think he clearly demonstrated exactly why the institutional inertia of the military hasn't yielded us with good results.
