I wondered this right up to the pandemic. The pandemic PARTIALLY restored my faith. Because society was shut down to limit the spread. And the economy is kind if like a nuclear reactor. You cannot just shut it off without doing damage. So there was a big worry about what doing that was going to do to the economy. Could we recover? And today 5 years. Later we're still dealing with the reverberations from it.

The reason I say "partially" restored is I don't think this was done to preserve human life as much as it was done to prevent our Healthcare system from getting overwhelmed. And it was to prevent (ironically) a complete collapse of the economy and to a larger extent society.

To the society and to the majority of people these days, money is worth more than a human life but to people like me who were raised on morals and values and have faith in god, we consider that the human life is priceless and no money in the world is worth it!
