where I live there are monthly ceremonies of legal immigrants taking the oath of citizenship. My grandparents all went through this. I remember my grandmother came home with the little American flag they gave her. Many of these people were just as poor and yet they were willing to go through the process and become citizens. We want people who appreciate what in means to be an American and not people who cut the line and sign up for welfare and refuse to assimilate into our culture.
