Who is the victim? Should the man be protected?

I detest the idea of sexual assault. In a perfect world, it shouldn't happen. But when someone is accused, should their name be protected the same as the alleged victim?

Even more so, I was reading an article about an area in Kansas where the local police had left DNA kits set, untested, for over SIXTEEN YEARS! Now don't get me wrong. I believe in punishing those that commit such crimes but, SIXTEEN YEARS? How is one suppose to defend themself against a rape allegation so long before? Memories fade and witness' disappear. I even think bring such a charge to someone a few (three) years down the road is unreasonable, let alone sixteen.

One should always be assumed to be innocent until proven guilty.

Yeah, it's crazy! There should definitely be a window to press charges/prosecute such things.

The US is weird with the whole name thing. In other countries, they don't reveal the identity of criminals.

I remember a few years ago, some poor girl killed herself because some asshole snitched on her for masturbating on the beach. They plastered the body cam footage all over the internet, and she was shamed to be point of suicide, while the piece of shit who snitched on her gets to live his life in anonymity.

And take the Idaho stabber for instance or even that Luigi guy. The media already made them out to be guilty before they even had a trial. No way are those guys gonna get a fair trail. A lot of people don't like that the U. S. does this. But they only do it if it's a White person.

Yes, the identity of a man accused of rape should be protected just like the identity of the accuser is. Today, people are tried and convicted in the court of public opinion without knowing most of the relevant facts about the case, and many men's lives have been destroyed as a result. I've personally seen it happen. When I was15 a father in the neighborhood was accused of rape by his daughter's friend. He was ostracized by everyone in the neighborhood and he lost his marriage and children before the accuser finally acknowledged she had lied and there was never any sexual interaction between her and the accused. But the damage was already done.

That's how the report it - an allegation so they print the name. No one cares about the exoneration or retraction. Always guilty in public opinion unfortunately...

Man or woman, if you're accused, the community needs to know. Even if not convicted, doesn't mean you're innocent. It just means you're one of many who got away with it
