Should the accused be protected?

Recently, Rex Heuermann was arrested and accused in the death of three prostitutes on New York's Long Island.

Let me begin by saying there is no way one could justify such killings and, if proven to be guilty, should have justice heaped upon him. I wonder, however, when I see something like this recent arrest take place. In the United States, one is suppose to be assumed innocent until proven guilty. Supposed victims are, in many cases, hidden from the public. That being the case, shouldn't one that has only been accused of a crime but not yet proven guilty, be protected in the same way?

NO WAY! The police had a reason to charge him -- he deserves no protection.

JUST BECAUSE HE'S ACCUSED DOESN'T MAKE HIM GUILTY! Keep his name from the public.

You understand that Jeremy Meeks was charged with weapons offensives and this guy is accused of being a serial killer, right?
You really think his looks has anything to do with it?

@RainbowMarinade Jeremy Meeks was charged by men who weren't attracted to him and Meeks has other crimes too including assault, murder and other gang affiliated crimes. it was women petitioning for his release and sending him love letters similar to Ted Bundy. if women got their way, Ted Bundy would still be alive today raping and murdering women but instead it was men who executed him and put a stop to it

looks absolutely do play a part in influencing people's perception of one's innocence or guilt. it's called the Halo Effect/Devil Effect and there's been multiple studies done on this. men aren't immune to it either hence Casey Anthony, Amber Heard and Brooke Skylar Richardson were able to "get away" with more of their crimes than usual in comparison to men and unattractive women

it's well within human nature to be more lenient towards those we find more physically attractive which is why ugly men are often depicted as scumbags and abusers and ugly women are depicted as harpies and bitches. of course attractive people can be those things too but they are less likely to be perceived that way

What if he really is guilty but found not guilty by the court? Should people who aware he's really guilty know his face? Difficult question.

If they are charging him in the deaths of 3 women and putting his face out there, then they probably have dna evidence against him.
