If it's fabricated from thin air with no reason then I'd expect either a feeling of insecurity is affecting the relationship (they care a lot and want to trust you more but don't) or it's an excuse to cover something up (eg. they'll say you were in the wrong and they are innocent if caught hiding something).
Both reasons I've encountered myself and both are a red flag but for very different reasons, it can be hard to tell the difference in my opinion so in that position I'd want to test the relationship in some way, or if that doesn't work accuse them right back and judge the response.

I've experienced this too, and while I don't think it's always the case it often is. Especially if the person they're accusing has done literally nothing to cause them not to trust them.
Usually yes, often Insecurities and Manipulation to Isolate you from everyone. Abusers use tge Accusing of Cheating as a way to Isolate you stop going out with friends then don't go over family then don't invite others to your place and quit your job so you have no reason to gobanywhere and you can't cheat or be accused of cheating but now there's other things you do wrong and the cycle goes on and on until you've had enough...
One thing to remember about ABUSERS they are the WEAKEST of Society They Know Their WEAK!!!
It's always the case but it's a big red flag when you know you haven't done anything.

Yes , i agree the accuser is usually the one who is guilty
when you know toxic people are around you my suggestion
is stay clear and move on to people who are not toxic.Maybe in a relationship I don’t consider that when it comes to a legal case which thought you were asking about
