Why are school shootings a common occurrence in today's world?

Common occurrence in USA.

1. Too many guns

2. We don’t put enough resources into mental health to those most vulnerable to be school shooters (young white males)

3. We don’t put enough resources in keeping under 21 yr olds, those struggling from mental health issues, soon-to-be criminals, those of flight risk or have a previous violent incident getting their hands on an AR-15 style rifle. We need to actually put resources into this

4. Sensationalism from the media, crime influencers, dramatization of true crime because it leads to those wanting to get the infamous attention that internet points / influencer attention, media speculation that gets eyes pried onto the screen looking at their evil actions…. Some kind of praise after death so people don’t forget them, this individuals must be deterred by not having such a sensationalist thing (we shouldn’t name shooters or show their face or showcase their trial to deter these kinds of messed up villains from coming in the future)

Kids are bullied and gutless administrators will not do anything to help. The kids feel like nobody is listening so they go home, get piece and come back to school and get people to listen to them except by then it is too damn late.

it's not common in todays world, it's common in the USA. In my country are no school shootings (or incredibly rare. Only a few have happened throughout the entire history). We don't even have security at school and they are open for everyone to walk in. But in my country guns are banned, so that could help it.

School shootings have taken place in other countries than just the USA.

Absolutely. It even happened in my country a few times. However in the last 30 years my country only had 21 school shootings with 2 dead. The USA had 83 school shootings in just 2024, with 47 dead people. BIG DIFFERENCE. So yes it does happen everywhere, but it is not COMMON everywhere. USA has the most school shootings around the world. And not just bc it's a big country, they had the most school shootings even in percentages.

In Brazil, they don’t have school shootings. The kids get killed via hatchet.

Mass shootings have happened for years, in places all over the world, schools, malls, churches, hotels etc.

Social media and instantaneous 24-hour news have made school shootings more common, and more noticeable, than in the past in the US. Considering the numbers of schools in the US, and the same school hours every weekday, school shootings are still pretty rare.

Video games that glorify violence. No chance of getting any jail time. Psychotropic drugs being given to children who don't need them. Rap records talking about shooting everybody for everything. Violent movies and t. v.. Violence broadcast and glorified on the internet. Loneliness. Depression. Bullying. Ridicule. Complete lack of discipline and punishment.
