President Donald Trump on Saturday officially announced new tariffs on imports from the United States’ top trade partners, paving the way for retaliation and a new trade war.

1 yWhat part of this did you not know was coming after tRump said he was gonna impose tariffs on our trading partners?
Did you also miss the part where US citizens are the ones who end up paying the 25% price increase on everything, not the Canadians, the Mexicans, or the Chinese? The US has zero ability to impose taxes on any foreign country. But we can levy a tariff on goods we import.
Get ready for empty grocery store shelves and higher prices on food, cars, televisions, clothing, phones, computers, gas, steel, appliances, and building materials to create housing. tRump promised to fix inflation. Instead he is single handedly driving inflation sky high.
After the trade wars start we will become isolated from the rest of the world as our trading partners make agreements to sell their production to other countries who haven't declared a trade war against them. They are never coming back.
The stock market is already reacting to tRump's stupidity. They don't like the uncertainty it is causing. Stock prices are falling as investors take their money elsewhere to avoid the collapse of the US economy.
Trumponomics... how to destroy the world's greatest economy in a year.
Personally I'm loving it. The people who voted for this are going to get exactly what they deserve.00 Reply

For example:
Doug Ford, the premier of Canada’s most populous province has said he’ll do an outright ban on all American alcohol products. Ontario is the largest buyer of such products in North America.
Wonder how you good ol boys from the south will feel when your distillery starts laying people off?35 Reply- 1 y
Canadians already overly tax imported goods like alcohol. No worries, you will bend than break. And once you learn your place we can all be friends again 😁.

1 yHe's hitting us because we won't buy your cars. The fact is Ford is pretty much the only one easily available and it's got a reputation for being unreliable. The muskmobile is illegal here because it falls far short of safety regulations. I assume the sames true with other car brands.

Your "safety regulations" are deliberate tariffs. We went through this with Japan in the 90's.

1 yyes, he's won recent conflicts with venezuela and columbia with other minor countries.
it's just so weird some people could not even recognize the rise in prices over prior few years.
prices will go up... if money goes into treasury and trade imbalance is improved, is ok. needed rebalancing.
If gets worse... such partners go to other nations, prices just rise and no additional $, then that's bad.

@KrakenAttackin ,
But but but... it was your holy Capitalism that moved all of that manufacturing offshore to 3rd world countries in search of more profit and higher stock prices.
You think those same corporations care about American jobs? They'll forego the investment in new production facilities in the US and just find customers elsewhere. The world will move on without us. And corporations have no national loyalty. - 1 y
ROFL, keep believing that. Enjoy your slide into a 3rd world economy.

Seriously? You actually believe you can buy everything you need in the USA with zero foreign content. Wow! You are truly ill informed.
Do you own a car? Some of those parts came from foreign sources.
Do you use fossil fuels? Canada supplies the US crude oil, natural gas, and refined products like gasoline.
Clothing? Where do you think it’s made?
Sporting goods? Where do you think your Nike shoes are made? And every other brand.
Need a washer, dryer, stove, fridge, oven or vacuum? Appliances aren’t made here either.
Want fresh vegetables in winter? They don’t grow in Kansas Dorothy.
Need a new TV, there aren’t any made in the USA bucko.
Aircraft parts for commercial aviation? Foreign sourced parts again.
The list is endless.

American companies have items made out of country to save money to afford to stay in business.
You can't force a company to pay more building in the states. It only forces companies out of business.

There are no winners in trade wars, we’ve been down this road before.
- 1 y
History says otherwise, Canada, Mexico and China will just retaliate. It will cost American people more to live their lives. There might be some short term gains for certain rich people as usual. Unfortunately everyone else will suffer. Living in a border state we’re expecting to see a drop in Canadian tourism this summer.
- 1 y
@Notherndude84 These countries depend on the American marketplace to survive, especially China and Mexico. Trump wants an end to fentanyl and wants a level playing field for commerce. He also wants an end to illegal alien border crossing.
We had a fool in the White House for 4 years that let foreign countries take advantage of us either because he was owned by them or was just too senile to realize what was going on. Either way, we have somebody in the White House that will turn things around and not take ten years to do it. - 1 y
Isn’t interesting that Trump lumps Canada into the fentanyl argument when only 45 pounds was seized last year coming from Canada. Why doesn’t Trump hit China with the 25% tariff? He said they’re the primary source country after all?
- 1 y
Is it because it’s easier to bully countries with smaller economies and create convenient scapegoats of them?
I never understood why so many Americans think of other countries as “all the same”
For instance Mexico is a drug source country so let’s lump in Canada with them because after all they’re on the other border right? They must be evil too lol 😂 - 1 y
I will say that I’m glad Canada has stopped bringing in so many Indian nationals who’s intent was always to enter the US illegally
- 1 y
The cartels. Canada is not a drug producing nation.
- 1 y
Trump says “drill baby drill” yet he only put a 10% tariff on Canadian oil imports
