Are there people here who even if they still support Trump, think Trump is wrong with this trade war?

Over 70 countries (and counting!) have already come to the negotiating table to work out new trade deals. That was the whole point of this: to get to a renegotiation and to bargain from a position of strength. So far, that's exactly what's happened.
Do I think the US is going to get everything we want? Nope. Do I think we're going to get most of what we want? Yep. Will there be a few holdouts? Yes. Will those holdouts suffer? Absolutely - China especially.
China has almost literally blown itself up. It's got a HUGE population crisis tied to an extremely low birthrate that, all by itself, is going to destroy much of China's power. It also has a real estate/banking crisis that makes 2008 look like a pebble in the road. It's spent massive amount of money on a military, but the planes are junk, the ships are even worse junk, and the training is laughable because all decisions must be made from the very top by Xi. And most important, the CCP absolutely extinguished all morals and values in the country, which means that now, the entire country and everything about it runs on corruption. Nothing can be counted on to work. And so this trade war is just ANOTHER of several existential problems for China.
Russia? Russia as a state likely won't exist in 20 years. Petroleum has been all that's kept Russia alive, but as Europe has decoupled from Russia, their main export country is China, and they only make a fraction of the money they used to make. They also have a massive population bomb, with so many young men killed in the war and so many others having fled the country. These consequences don't show themselves overnight, but they're inevitable. If it wasn't for their Cold War nukes (which, for all we know, don't even work anymore), no one would take them seriously.
Trump is working to set the US up for a strong future. He's not looking to boost his poll numbers for this quarter, he's looking to get the country in a good place for the next 50 years. And while you'll see a few positive signs immediately, much of what he's doing now won't be obvious in your daily life for years to come.
Long after everyone has forgot about these tariffs, people will remember that Trump reset the game that was long in need of a reset following the end of the Cold War.
Donald Trump is a grifter and you are the mark.
I am embarrassed for everyone in the cultist community.
@supercutebutt just admit you don't even read anything beyond trying to decide whether they hate trump or not. His opinion, though disagreeable, has thoughtful points. Nothing like your trump cum soaked boring puss.
@Entertained_Adult Why do you take my Trump smack personally? It's so embarrassing. You are in a cult.
@supercutebutt Let me get this straight.
Believing everything the MSM says and having the hate Trump mindset 24/7 is called being enlightened, but if you say one positive thing at all about something Trump is doing, then God forbid you’re part of a cult
@WhiteBoyChill Trump started a violent coup on 1/6/21 and your cult leader encouraged the hanging of Mike Pence for the "crime" of telling the truth.
You are in a cult. :)
@supercutebutt Oh yeah, it was Trump who started the coup, even though the prosecutors literally failed to find any evidence linking him to the attacks carried out by his supporters
Oh and by the way, it wasn’t a coup either. It was a bunch of pissed off angry rednecks breaking into a govt building trying to disrupt a session of congress
@WhiteBoyChill A few thousand Trump supporters had a few really bad violent hours on just one single day, and according to the left, it's the worst event since the dawn of time. Meanwhile, BLM and Antifa violently rioted, looted, burned, and destroyed mostly minority communities and mostly minority-owned businesses for four months across the country (during the pandemic shutdown, no less) in the summer of 2020, causing billions of dollars in damages and killing dozens of people, and according to left, that was perfectly fine and "peaceful". The left's hypocrisy is hilariously nonsensical.
@MrOracle Well done, as usual.
@supercutebutt Get therapy.
@WhiteBoyChill Then why does Trump's organization not want to release their findings?
@NYCQuestions1976 The black peope who you are demonizing were never Biden/Harris supporters. Did you not pay attention at all to the results from the election? All of the violent black men came out in support of Donald "Mugshot" Trump. They look at him as their hero because he lies, cheats and steals. They rap about his criminal ass and they jerk their cocks off to him in prison while looking at his bloody ear photo. Read the news once in awhile. Kanye and his black Nazi assholes all love MAGA. So you people own the rioters, whether on Jan 6th or any other fucking day.
@supercutebutt You mean the election that I correctly predicted on this site numerous times would happen YEARS ago? (My "Opinions" history and my "Replies" history on my GaG profile are my receipts.) The election where Trump got over 77.3 million votes nationwide, the 2nd highest all-time? The election where Trump went 7-0 in all the swing states? The election where Trump won all the states that he was expected to win by 10% or more? The election where Trump nearly flipped New Hampshire, New Jersey, Virginia, Minnesota, and New Mexico?
So yeah, it's pretty clear that I paid attention to the results of the election.
I demonized the professional riot organizations of BLM and Antifa (correctly and rightfully so), not innocent African Americans. I demonized the organizations funded by predominantly Caucasian American limousine liberals that destroyed residences and business predominantly owned by innocent African Americans. There's a big damn difference between the leftist organized professional rioters of BLM and Antifa, and innocent African American citizens. It's really sad and borderline racist that you're apparently unable to distinguish between them.
My original comment stands. Get therapy.
P. S.: Why are you obsessed with prison cocks? Maybe you should address that in the aforementioned therapy.
@NYCQuestions1976 Why are you obsessed with a criminal conman? That's the real question. You worship evil.
@supercutebutt I properly eviscerated you with facts. Your response is subpar and inadequate. Unfortunately and disappointingly, much of your GaG history shows that's par for the course for you.
You never have any legitimate arguments to support your opinions, you rely on your TDS and falsely accusing people of being "evil" and/or falsely accusing them of being in a "cult" as your only comebacks, and routinely employ censorship by removing comments and responses on your questions/content that disagree with you and/or prove you wrong. Living in a self-contained, self-imposed echo chamber isn't healthy.
You've generally been an excellent and entertaining contributor to this site for a very long time, but you're disturbingly wrong and disturbingly obsessed with this. You need therapy. In the meantime, be an adult, take the L you've earned, and move on.
@supercutebutt blm is a conservative movement? First time i hear that.
@Entertained_Adult BLM is an anarchist movement. The same as Jan 6th. The political scale is a horseshoe, not a straight line. The extremes almost touch, they are so similar. Violent black people support Trump. Fact.
@NYCQuestions1976 You wouldn't know a fact if it fucked you in your smelly asshole:
MAGA is a religion now. Love thy neighbor has been relaced by hate thy neighbor. The good news is, Hell is real. And all MAGA cultists will rot there. :)
@supercutebutt Relaced? Like a shoe? Maybe if your TDS wasn't causing you to foam at the mouth, you'd do a better job at maneuvering through the English language.
Anyway, your response to me is wildly and hilariously nonsensical and inaccurate, considering that I listed numerous provable facts in this thread, and my gastroenterologist recently gave me a clean bill of health. Definitely get therapy for just about all of the rest of what you posted.
Have a very adequate Good Friday. 👍
@NYCQuestions1976 Donald Trump could squirt diarrhea in your lunchbox and you'd joyfully eat it up with a spoon.
The economy is in the shitter (fact), eveyone hates each other (fact) and your only response is nitpicking an obvious typo (fact). Those are three solid facts. Here are three more: You have failed. You are a doofus. You are in a cult.
@supercutebutt You're very obsessed with prison cocks and buttholes.
"The economy is in the shitter (fact), eveyone hates each other (fact) and your only response is nitpicking an obvious typo (fact). Those are three solid facts. Here are three more: You have failed. You are a doofus. You are in a cult."
1.) Wrong. Inflation and unemployment are both down.
2.) No, the reality is that leftists hate everyone else. Stop gaslighting people.
3A.) I've already responded with numerous facts in this thread that are all easily proven (that's why you've ignored them and made no effort to refute them).
3B.) An obvious error, because you're unfocused, because you're foaming at the mouth, because you need therapy. Also, why not point it out? It helps prove my point, and there's always room for humor.
4.) 😂😂😂 All one has to do is read this exchange to know that's completely and woefully inaccurate.
5.) As of my last annual full medical workup, my primary care physician doesn't share your opinion. I'll let you know if that's changed after my next appointment.
6.) I've already clearly and accurately detailed how that's not a legitimate argument and/or response.
Why are you insisting on being publicly humiliated here, and on a Friday no less? Just be an adult, take the L you've earned, schedule therapy, and move on. There's no shame in defeat (so I'm told).
@NYCQuestions1976 There is shame in defeat. That's why you keep responding. You are so desperate to save face. You know deep in your soul that Trump is a blabbering fucktard and that your entire life will be spent vainly doubling and tripling down on his bullshit. The good news for you is that nobody is reading these posts except you and me.
@supercutebutt no, i am reading his coherent posts with ease, unlike your braindead TDS that requires a lot of struggle for empathy.
@Entertained_Adult Of course you understand the ramblings of a cultist. You are also one. Or you are the same dude pretending to be someone else. You people have serious challenges. 😔
And let not forget that the President himself is healthy as a horse: www.whitehouse.gov/.../
@supercutebutt I'm trying to save face? From what? I've posted numerous easily provable correct facts. You've posted nothing but inaccurate accusations and paranoid ramblings.
Again, you need therapy. At this point, it'll probably have to wait until Monday. In the meantime, since it's the weekend, I suggest you get yourself some Surfsides, get banged up, and watch the Pistons get seized up in Round 1 by the Knicks. In fact, to show you I'm a gracious winner, I'll even CashApp/PayPal/Zelle/whatever you a 10 spot for your first round to help you celebrate the massive L you've earned in this thread. 😂
@NYCQuestions1976 Your "facts" are that unemployment and inflation are down? WTF? We have no numbers to look at for after the tariffs were implemented. Just wait, my doofus. Even the Wall Street Journal Is calling for Fucko Trump's impeachment.
Bringing 1930s manufacturing back to the USA is nonsensical. Robots do most of those jobs because that's how things are done now. Furthermore, immigrants are no longer around to do jobs that Americans are too lazy to do. Prices will explode. Some states are planning on bringing back child labor because that will be the only option. You have lost your mind.
You need therapy and I am not paying for it.
The only thing you were right about was the Pistons melt-down last night. But you ignore that the Tigers beat up on the dumbass Yankees a little while ago. How convenient.
@supercutebutt The tariffs are meant to be temporary and a negotiating tool, as @MrOracle correctly pointed out, and numerous countries are coming to the table to renegotiate. Other countries have spent decades raking the United States over the coals when it comes to trade, and that needs to stop. Trump's tariff strategy is slowly but surely working, he was open about there being bumps along the way and the positive results taking some time, but he does have a hard deadline for those tangible positive results: Tuesday, 11/3/2026 (the next midterm elections).
Stop deliberately conflating ILLEGAL immigration with LEGAL immigration, stop coddling high school age teenagers capable of working LEGALLY (an after-school job teaches real-world responsibility), and stop accepting blanket laziness as a new overall way of life. There's far more than just "robots" that goes into the modern process of manufacturing goods, and there's also no valid reason that those "robots" can't be manufactured HERE.
You apparently want less success for the United States, and that's unacceptable.
The World Series isn't played and/or won in April. I know, I've been at those games.
@NYCQuestions1976 It's official. You are a gentleman from the doofus community.
@supercutebutt ⬅️ Needs therapy.
@NYCQuestions1976 ⬅️ Really needs therapy.
@supercutebutt ⬅️ Needs therapy and her own material.
@NYCQuestions1976 ⬅️ Needs therapy and a larger penis so he doesn't overcompensate by being in an obvious cult.
@supercutebutt That's sexual harassment, and my peninsula of masculinity is sufficiently average, thank you very much. You need therapy and new material.
@NYCQuestions1976 She’s a lost cause.
These people lack the intellectual capacity to think independently and all they can do is just mindlessly regurgitate
@NYCQuestions1976 Your Clowny Cult Leader is backing down from his stupid tariffs. No countries "made deals" and he looks like a fucking idiot... just like you. Birds of a feather! How embarrassing. You embraced fascism and sold your soul to a demented conman.
@supercutebutt Are you stoned? Numerous countries are currently in open negotiations for fair trade deals with the United States, per Google:
Japan: Negotiations began even before the tariff pause, with a focus on easing tariffs on key exports like cars and steel.
India: "Very good progress" is reported in trade discussions, aiming for a bilateral trade agreement.
South Korea: Negotiations are underway to mitigate the impact of tariffs on their economy and seek a "win-win solution".
European Union: Negotiations are ongoing, with the European Union having paused planned retaliatory tariffs.
United Kingdom: Discussions are underway, with the United Kingdom government seeking to negotiate lower tariffs on British exports.
Vietnam: Vietnam has offered to remove all tariffs on United States goods in exchange for lower tariffs on their exports.
Taiwan: Negotiations are progressing "smoothly," with Taiwan aiming to form a "Taiwan-United States coalition".
Argentina: Negotiating the 10% tariffs imposed on Argentine goods.
Israel: Seeking to eliminate their trade deficit with the United States and serve as a "model" for trade negotiations.
Bangladesh: Requested a three-month pause on tariffs and pledged to increase imports of American goods.
Cambodia: Pledged to significantly cut tariffs on United States imports.
Indonesia: Seeking a "win-win" agreement with the United States during the 90-day pause.
Lesotho: Negotiating to ease the crippling 50% tariffs imposed on their textile industry.
Just because marijuana is decriminalized now in many jurisdictions around the country doesn't mean that it's okay for you to smoke bones the size of telephone poles.
@supercutebutt if there is a cult member, i. e. a mindless drone monitoring Donald Trump's every move, and accordingly making predictable, emotional posts online about him, it's only you.
@NYCQuestions1976 Nice try, my doof. You have failed in every way. I will let you absorb your loss and figure out how to escape the cult without too much embarrassment. This will be a rough time for you. 😔
@supercutebutt I hope you're choosing gummies over joints. No amount of smoke of any kind is good for your lungs.
@NYCQuestions1976 Nice of you to assume its only marijuana she’s doing.
In reality I suspect its something much worse
@WhiteBoyChill It's probably just her TDS making her irrational. It's a shame, because just about all of her non-political content on this site is actually pretty entertaining and amusing. Oh well.
@NYCQuestions1976 Only a cultist would dislike my awesome political insight. And here's the latest headline: ‘Trump chickened out’: Chinese social media mocks Trump on trade.
Donald Trump, as usual, has failed. Now everyone is hoping we can go back to the way things used to be. Sadly, it's probably too late. Clowny needs to be overthrown.
@supercutebutt Oh no! Not Communist China! Let's not fall out of favor with Chickity China The Chinese Chicken! Wherever will we import our next pandemic virus? 😂😂😂
@NYCQuestions1976 When you were a little boy, did you ever think you'd grow up to be a crazy person?
@supercutebutt You're projecting. You'd learn what that is and how to deal with it if you'd finally go to therapy.
This is not Trump's trade war. All the other countries started it. He's just forcing them to negotiate. Yes, I support it, and it's working. It was working from the very start. I was in favor of protectionist policies long before Trump got into politics.
He plays hard ball. The US has a LOT of leverage, and Trump knows it. He knows that other countries don't want to lose the US market. It's way too important lose. So he does tariffs to get them to negotiate.
Most countries have higher tariffs than the US. They also have other protectionist policies. In some cases completely blocked markets. The idea of free trade is fine and dandy - except that it doesn't exist and never has. It has been one-sided.
Countries around the world are scrambling to negotiate. They are offering concessions. In some cases they are offering zero tariffs to US goods sold in their country. Or they are offering other concessions. In some cases they are holding out to see what happens. They are waiting to see if Trump is bluffing. I don't think he's bluffing. I think he fully intends to keep the high tariffs if other countries don't make concessions.
So we have to wait and see.
@WindAtMyBack
A trade deficit is not a trade war or you are also in a trade war with your convenience store.
Trump chose this path himself.
Every other time the US has tried this has sent us into a severe depression. Trump isn't some kind of genius. He's a moron. That's why all the educated people in the US are against him, aside from the corrupted rich. He's going to do what benefits him, not you. Same as any other billionaire.
@NimbleOcelot Yup.
I don't support Trump but I support trade war between US and China, especially with his incompetency that increases Chinese victory. Someone said once "if the devil fights a monster, human being should intervene" I think this is the situation in this case
nope not at all, I believe in my president and will defend his honor from all dissidents, MAGA forever
You'll defend him, and not the constitution? Cultist much?
MAGA is a religion now. Love thy neighbor has been relaced by hate thy neighbor. The good news is, Hell is real. And all MAGA cultists will rot there. :)

I would if I thought he was wrong but unlike most American people I only care about my own country, I've never seen other countries sympathize for my country, mostly the countries with tarrifs right now, Mexico and Canada only tried to help with the wildfire in Cali when they already announced trump was going to deport people when he got in office, in my lifetime from what I heard other countries have never helped my country with anything since I was born, China got cocky with their terrifs, they highered theirs after we highered ours and then we highered ours again, that sat them down real quick, last time I heard trump paused the tarrifs for many countries exept China, China must have forgotten our business with them was more of a favor than need, this tarrifs stuff is starting to look a lot like chess, look how friendly everyone is when their US dollars are in jeopardy tho, after all their critism and backstabs they were yapping when the country was being dragged down by a puppet, where we're all these countries when the woke plague was consuming our country, they were a long side with them kissing their ass watching our country fall, I honestly don't feel bad for any of them, they can all suck on these tarrifs.
There's always been something in it for them
Nope nothing except getting hundred of migrant, why do you think we got so much middle eastern immigrant in Europe? That's because America armed terrorist in 1979 during the Soviet - Afghan war, they did so during 10 years when the war stopped in 1989 the terorist moved to others Asian, middle Eastern and north African counties spreading Jihad all paid, armed and trained by America (because American thought Arab were their ally against URSS), the region getting all war torn after lead to countless of immigration in Europe and terrorist attack same with Irak, USA asked Europe for help, we helped now Iran want to get nuclear weapons to protect itself and Syrian, Afghan, Irakian, etc;.. went into Europe mostly Germany and Sweden to get protected from American bombardement and Islamist terorism (which was armed and trained by American) so now helping American bomb Irak / middle East was definitely not in our benefit it was all the reverse we're still paying the price today of America action in bombing Middle East and arming terorist in Afghanistan...
I don't buy it that they didn't get anything out of it, nothing is free, that's just the oldest thing in the book, now do me a favor and search up everything we helped Europe with, which I know nothing about but I'm almost certain the list is longer than vise versa
Well technically the only things they get for "free" is nuclear weapons from American as proaction from a possible Russian invasion that's it but they don't even need it because France and UK have the nuclear force too.
The only things America being us is immigrant and war, Ukraine war started because US was trying to implant nuclear arms in Kiev and Moscow was against it, they always it's a no go zone and yet American forced their was into it.
American did nothing for us, ww2 ? Soviet lost 27 Million of their population American lost nothing next to it and they only entered the war at the end, they wouldn't even have come to help European If Japan did not attack Pearl Harbor this tell a lot...
American did nothing to help us through all the terrorist attack we got in mid 2010s.
And the American help in plan Marshall after ww2 is not help in anyway shape of form it was just a big huge debt that UK was able to pay 80 years after... So no America never helped us and when it did they asked for payement back and what did we got in exchange for our submission (to get nuclear protection against Russia who wouldn't have attacked us if we got rid of Nato and got rid of American base in Europe ) load of immigrant, killing raping and destroying our culture, Russia attacking Ukraine (war started by USA who now refuse to pay and let us do all the work cause they want to go to war with China over Taiwan).
Nato countries are all submissive to usa for the nuclear protection American offer without realizing that it's all American propaganda because Russia would have never attacked us if only American got rid of nato and their base in Europe.
So what favors have any countries actually done, it all sounds like normal alliances during war, not actual favors but either ways my opinion stands
So all that was before trump?
US has a global hegemony, it is the richest economy and is protected by two fucking oceans at each side. You can't just send help to fight against wildfires there from Germany
You don't even understand what US is, I actually like the idea that the evil of USA relenting by it becoming more isolationist but Trump's overall craziness is unsustainable in the political sense
You just proved my point, on how other countries think of the US, i hope you aren't German calling other countries evil since not only do germans have an evil past on hating religion and slaughtering people for it but recently I just saw a stadium full of Germans use thousands of people to flash the pentagram and worship satan during a game, also the wildfire is an example of countries helping not vise versa, but I strongly believe the only reason why they helped was cause they didn't want the deportation thing to become a reality, as soon as it did those countries turned on us, Im not denying my country being evil but let's not be hypocrites here, at least mine tries to hide it sometimes 😂
It doesn't, it's the most aggressive, regressive coup organising, openly supporting terrorists sort of a country that creates perpetual wars
Besides, China helped US. In 2008, had Chinese government refused buying US treasury bonds to bail out their fake economy that literally collapsed because of banks' greed, you'd be done for. It was game over.
And look what America is doing now that Chinese tech has proved itself more efficient
Fucking CEO's, who depended on Chinese labour, now claim their IP's are stolen by Chin, because those Asian mfers are smart and didn't accept any American capital in, without Chinese businessmen having a stake
How does US payback for the help it got? It opens trade wars and constant armament, trying to squeeze China in its own waters, trying to force allies into a hostile attitude towards China, even though they themselves are the perpetuators
They complain about growing Chinese influence in Africa, which is flat out shamelessness because China is literally building infrastructure for these countries in exchange of adventageous trade deals.
And the country, responsible of half a hundred coups in foreign soil, calls this "concerning"
China has always been a business country, you think they did that shit for free, communist countries are always going to put money over their own people, I'm not buying this picture you paint of them, now search up why China did it, I bet you there's a reason, a selfish money related reason, they have always relied on our currency which is my guess why they helped, Thats not a favor if they get something out of it as well, we paid them back by doing business with them, that's always been their main demand from us
For almost a full term they have been trying to side with Russia to take down our economy when our country was weak, I don't feel bad for them, and Russia is lucky they kissing ass or they would probably be in the same position as China
@midnightmoon05 Yes all of that is before Trump
@Darklydarkened European can't send help easily but yet we helped America so much in a lot of other ways, like how America forced their "ally" to help during Irak war (war started because of a lie).
They even made a whole campaign against the French becuase we refused to help them.
Well they're business first, and it is perfectly normal for them to go against US hegemony.
I just don't get on what grounds, you think it's in your right to criticise others by not doing things in your own interests.
Obviously Chinese government isn't altruistic. But it isn't disruptive, militarily aggressive or destructive like US
Not saying they're good, you're just way worse than them
There's no worse in the eyes of the Lord, you either sin or you don't, we all sin and that means we are all the same, any fib you've ever said is the same as the murderer that slaughtered his own family in the eyes of the Lord, worse is a manmade perspective, and subjective, hop off your high horse bro, y'all Germans aren't saints and that's enough said.
There's no Lord, you muppet!
I don't think he is wrong to try to do something that should have been done decades ago but no other president had the guts to do.
This is a major issue both for our economy, our jobs and our lifestyle. Other countries have been ripping us off and stealing our technology and little by little it is eroding our growth potential and safety which means it is diminishing our lifestyle potential.
And at least as importantly there is a gigantic national security threat built into the trade imbalance. We cannot allow a country that wants to dominate and destroy us, like Communist China be our only source of critical things like medications, steel and aluminum, electronics technology and many others. What happens if they attack us and we don't even have the factories to build the things we need to defend ourselves... or if they send another deadly virus over here and THEY are the ones who control the medications needed to survive it.
No, this is LONG overdue and thank GOD President Trump is at least trying to solve this problem that no other president would tackle before its too late for America to survive it. Will every move be perfect? Of course not. And the Democrats will scream at the top of their lungs at the slightest misstep hoping that President Trump fails and Americans suffer the consequences. DESPICABLE!
Like with everything else Donny does it’s always a big theater
Build a border wall! 😱
Turn Gaza into Monaco!😱
Conquer Greenland!😱
Cripple the Chinese exports industry!😱
Somehow none of those things actually did happen.
Yeah sure he can talk and take certain measures within his power but he doesn’t have the authority to do anything truly decisive about these things
In an interview with Putin last year he was asked if he’s worried about Trump vs Biden as president his answer was
“It doesn’t matter who the president is, he’s still required to answer to his congress, to his administration, to the CIA and national security.
So he’s virtually powerless in terms of decision making”
We are still waiting for Trump's disclosure of Barack Obama's foreign birth certificate. :-D
Depends on the issue and approach. In general yes, but he could do a better job managing some issues... but that is nearly impossible for him because of how he functions. This has always been the problem with him.
I'd still select him over the other option we had. I don't think Nikki Haley or Kamala would have been that good either.
If he doesn't drag us into WWIII, and can reset the global economy on a better balance, he's done well. If those things go badly, then... we failed.
Note, it is very possible Europe comes out of this better than before, if they play their cards well. Right now, it's like a bunch of cards tossed in the air.
I'm pretty interested in news about the economy and on here I consistently see the most clueless delusional opinions.
Listen to someone talk who actually knows something and then read the comments it's painful. Or go on wallstreetbets. They call themselves retards but they have a way better understanding of what's going on than the average person on this site.
It's better to just talk about sex
I haven't heard one American person complain about the tariffs. This is the kind of thing I see Americans say:
Personally I'm not looking for a job at the mill, but I'm old enough to remember quality American made items and the introduction of China trash into the American economy and I watched the slide from items that lasted a very long time into a disposable economy of garbage that wastes a lot of resources. As to to the tariffs that are to come for example on the electronics & semiconductor industry, pharma industry, etc. I could see a lot of benefit to Americans on that issue. I personally know many biologists and chemists that could benefit from pharma jobs and I also know many electrical, mechanical, industrial, computer, and software engineers that would love to see the return of the electronics industry. Many of them currently have aspirations of working on industrial robots in advanced manufacturing.

As a not-an-American, it does seem to have a tinge of a high stakes gamble. However, it is not immediately post WW2 anymore.
Part of the cold war alliance was to give allies access to the US market but it is not that sustainable for the US to run deficits whilst everybody else runs surpluses. I wouldn't like a world where Xi and Putin dominate.
So while it might be painful, I think allies need to accept changes and responsibilities.
No, Trump is alienating his oldest allies. What's more, the United States is the world's leading exporter of services and second largest exporter of goods. What's more, the U. S. has the hegemony of the dollar. A trade deficit is therefore not the same for the United States as for any other country. And in any case, Americans are not prepared to pay more for their products.
The world reserve currency does count :)
After WW2 global security was devolved to the US. That was 80 years ago. Things change. We might need to agree to disagree.
I am quite amused China is launching a charm offensive in SE Asia now. If they are not thinking maybe we shouldn't have been so aggressive about the nine dash line and should have accepted the 2016 UNCLOS ruling on the South China Sea they might be now. And maybe also thinking we shouldn't have invaded India during covid.
A reminder to China of their dependency has a good chance to avoid a kinetic war in my view.
I am willing to wait and see how events unfold. If our economy recovers, President Trump will probably be considered the greatest president in modern history. If the economy does not recover, the Democrats will take the House and Senate in the midterm elections and President Trump's administration will be over. If President Trump makes it to the 2028 election, JD Vance will be elected and the Republicans will be in power for 12 years.
The country will be a very different place, then. If the Democrats manage to get into power, the country will collapse and there will be an armed uprising of Patriots, perhaps ending in a balkanization of the United States.
Your economy "might" recover. But it won't recover for you, that you can be sure of
@Darklydarkened Can I?
Yes because Trump is quite open about this whole charade is about sustaining US dollars hegemony, without the drawbacks of having an unstoppable deficit.
He's not saying anything about long-term economic results.
He doesn't seem to have even a half-assed plan to re-industrialise.
He's not addressing the point that, China is basically at a level at production, US can't compete with it with their current economic model that focuses on shareholder gains, and individual techno-lords gains.
Just look at China, the way their transportation network, railways, insane capacity of factories, their universities, that openly focus on engineering studies instead of bullshit culture wars, a government that has a very big stake in the economy, and doesn't need to tax working people to the bone
And most importantly, planned economy. Korea and Japan also grew through planned economy. It was their cultural thing to centrally manage an entire nation so they figured it out well
China though, did it outside of US hegemony.
So no, you can't. They're pushing this bullshit idea, that China just got rich over American people by "stealing" IP's, even though China bailed those greedy fuckers out in 2008, agreed buying American IOU's to save American economy, and agreeing a mutually beneficial deal on industrialising US companies in China.
Now it's not okay because US techbros can't compete with Chinese firms that well
@Darklydarkened The end results are all that matters. If the results are good we will retain the Senate and the House of Representatives in the midterms if they aren't we won't.
No, here is my viewpoint.
We are against slave labor in the US, but yet we buy slave labor products from other countries. If Clinton would not have signed the free trade deal we would have been better off. Plus we might have a lot more factories here in the US.
That would be a tiny minority of economically educated old-school Republicans. In the MAGA cult you don't get to criticize or even question your cult leader.
Yes, I support Trump but I don’t think he is infallible.
I don’t think his trade war is working out.
Trump was honest about the market and financial reaction to the tariffs being rough at first. He's been saying it's going to pay off for the country, but it's going to take a little bit of time. He better be right, and his deadline to be right is 11/3/2026 (the midterm elections). So far, Trump using tariffs to force trade negotiations with other countries is slowly heading in the right direction. Over 75 countries are trying to renegotiate their trade arrangements with the United States.
It's a strategy many just don't understand.
But, Trump's strategies will pay off handsomely.
Be patient...
A positive upswing is coming.
Lol.
Not me, I like everything he's doing in this trade war.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/EGDdpBGlmxQTrump voters will follow this moron to Hell. Let's enjoy watching them suffer. They deserve it. :)
No I think he is totally right!! Also, I support him 100%
Hating Trump at this point is equivalent to hating your parents for trying to feed you food. How dare they try to put food in your stomach… the nerve
No, it's like hating your parents for grabbing your pussy. You are justified.
International trade is a complex topic, so no one who´s paying close attention is going to agree with every detail even if they agree something needs to be done.
Yeah, I think Trump's strategy here is a bit too aggressive.
He's doing this to get his rich people to become more rich at the expense of people's pension funds
He has a game plan he has said to wait it out he’s not an idiot. He’s trying to fix the economy and he is tired of other countries ripping us off
He's the president. Presidents far know more than the silly people not involved in higher government talking ish they no knowing about on TV or social media.
Biden's polices were good for the time whether people agree with it or not as there many factors behind the scenes the general public just don't know about as government works in secrecy.
Yes he is a good leader for the US.
The US has been going downhill older over 30 years.
Yes, I do not agree with him 100% but what he was president it was the first time I felt like I had real representation in Washington.
Most of the MAGA folk can't read. Trump among them. I doubt many of them know a trade war has been started.
Someone who once said he would never get us in a war, is now literally in a war. It may not be with guns, but this is the "white collar" kind of war.
Pretty pathetic to me
Multitudes of people outside this little irrelevant echo chamber support Trump and his trade war is necessary and effective.
*yawn*.
What is it? Are you anti-Trump? Trump is a true genius, with magnificent clothes and who is the king of negotiation. With him, the USA will crush China and regain its status as the only superpower like after the Cold War. If that doesn't merit a huge statue, I don't know what does.
You're not doing what you think you're doing lol and nobody worships Trump.
She makes sarcastic comments
Gee, I had no idea.
@Knightwatch27
What do you mean nobody admires Trump? Only people on the left, globalist, LGBTQ are anti Trump. Trump is the people's hero.
Lol if this is the best you got Julie, then I am underwhelmed.
Knightwatch is in love
What, no "knightwatch and Trump sittin' in a tree"? Come on butt. Wasted an opportunity there.
No I don’t think he’s wrong at all. We have been taking it up the ass with no lube from China for far too long
I wouldn’t even want it in the ass with lube
Nope, CUZ THAT'S MY PRESIDENT! 🦅🇺🇸RAAAAAAAAAAAH🇺🇸🦅
Trump could piss in your mouth and you'd thank him for it.
Too bad I don't have a piss fetish, but most of the freaks on your side do. Trump's pissing on all over your guys attempts like it ain't shit 🥱
I doubt it. He is absolutely correct with his trade war and it should have been waged 26 years ago when the Democrats surrendered without a shot.
I can't wait for you to go broke
Not 'is.' Your wealth WAS exploding... until Fuckwit the Tariff Doof came along. Trumpty Dumpty has ensured that your wealth is doomed to shrink in 2025. Unless you have invested in the fear index.
Even Trump figured out that his original plan wasn't going to work and is now going full improv.
convincing you that is not working is what they want you to believe
Leave it to the filthy immigrant 🙄
@supercutebutt wow pigs are gonna fly tonight. I thought that hideous you took from this site when when Trump won the election was gonna keep you out of here for good
Yes, differences of opinions are tolerated in the Republican Party, unlike the Fascist Democrats.
I’m pretty sure it’s a type of strategy he is doing and will have some good outcomes later
Sure. 🙄
@supercutebutt I guess we’ll never know till later but we’re stuck with him now
don't criticize what you don't understand
Oh, I'm sure there's SOME people like that.
I support Trump
GREAT question!!
Trump hasn’t told them to think that it’s wrong.
Another failure in his growing list.
He banckrupt 6 times
ALL SORTS OF THEM !!!
I hope we don’t go into recession
We will. And the Trumptards will all praise the recession.
@supercutebutt trumptards all think this neo nazi is good and he should be above the courts. So funny it’s assumed I’m a cnn watcher because I oppose Trump 😆😆😆. These maga have nothing better to do with their lives except whack off to Fox News and kkk
Yup. 😔
I don't know, but I’m not one of them
That's because you are cognitively challenged 🤪
@supercutebutt Gee, that’s quite rich coming from somebody like you.
I totally believe you tho!
I do.
He's a POS
he's wrong
Not at all
