Whites are admissible into the WNBA, NFL, and NBA. They were never excluded. Those leagues, like all professional sports leagues in the past 60+ years are complete meritocracies.

It isn't that it is "not OK for whites in the NFL, NBA, WNBA" to be included as part of a DEI program because those leagues, and any other professional sports league, are meritocracies.

As for other things having DEI, there's a point to it. While meritocracies are conceptually ideal, often in life, there are other objectives than just "having the best" participants.

... and, in colleges, this is especially so.

Sure, it would seem that college admissions should be pure meritocracies but that only looks at the probability of success of the curriculum education of the student at that college.

However, the education that occurs in college is not just the curriculum education. It is the life-experience education that you get being around other people including:
1. Learning about other people's customs, languages/dialects/idioms, places where they are from.
2. Learning about other people's perspectives.
3. Learning to interact with people not like you. This goes a long way to the education about human nature which can only happen with life experience.

Mathematically, the more diverse these things that you are exposed to in college, the more likely that aspect of the college education is to be successful.

In a sense, the college experience - especially if you attend a school far from home - is akin to what Mark Twain famously said in "Innocents Abroad":

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."

When you attend a college with students from many different backgrounds, it is just like traveling; instead of you going all over the world, you and the world meet up in the same place.

I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 40 years ago. The BS I got was important and has helped me - mostly because of the discipline process: learning how to learn.

But, more importantly, that non-curriculum education that I got at my time at RPI has helped me beyond measure. I never would have gotten such an education if I attended a local college with kids just like me and from where I was from.

So, put another way, the DEI aspect of college isn't just to help minority Black kids get into schools they otherwise could not attend. It is equally important to expose majority White kids to people other than themselves.

The idiom "Put yourself in my shoes" is much more appropriate when you can interact with the person saying that than abstractly thinking about it over the web. Direct face-to-face human interaction is the best way to learn anything about the human experience, the world, and, most of all, human nature.

There's another reason that DEI and affirmative action are important, but you would not understand that as it would take a few years of mathematics and control systems engineering to fully appreciate what I am about to say...

Nonlinear systems often have a separatrix which mathematically illustrates various domains in which the system can operate. The system cannot cross a separatrix on its own. For that, the system needs to experience some type of forcing function which injects enough "mathematical energy" so the system can cross a separatrix and go from one domain of operation into the other.

So you are mad that black people get accepted into colleges using programs in order to do so (since the vast majority that get accepted are white males & white females, those programs in place allows disparaged people to climb up the social and economic ladder which leads to future generations being born into higher places like long successful careers that their parents were able to achieve) and it allegedly isn’t okay for whites to join sports?

No one ever said white people can’t do sports, though I have seen racism & disparaging remarks on those different to those that look like or talk like or act like or have different names / religion than their heritage, which you can tell from a profile picture.

The people accepted in the Ivies are the top one percent of students, of ANY background. The biggest issue with DEI policies is the "E" (equity, instead of equality) in the acronym. Equality is the guarantee of equal OPPORTUNITY, which all of us citizens of the United States have as a Constitutional right. Equity, however, is the guarantee of equal OUTCOME, regardless of merit and/or abilities. That's why DEI (Didn't Earn It) is ridiculous, nonsensical, wrong, and in some instances, outright dangerous.
