Is my friend (Green card holder) also in danger of deportation or not?

She's in her mid 30's and recently obtained her Green card several months ago through her sister (sibling petition).

She's not in trouble right? I know our president is all about deporting the undocumented or illegal immigrants. How about recent Green card holder? She's worried about the news. She wonders if he also has a thing against legal residents.

As for your friend she is documented, has a green card & went through the correct channels to enter this country legally. As for your friend she has nothing to worry about unless her paperwork, visa or green card are expired & in that case she might want to start packing her bags.

As for your friend she is here legally & has nothing to worry about. As for all of the other people that jumped the fence or snuck in illegally I wish them the best of luck & hope they get caught.

Green card holders are legal and are not being targeted. They are legal immigrants by definition.

But just for the record, a green card holder is NOT a permanent resident like a lot of people think. All it means is that it does not have a fixed end date like a visa when they must leave. They can still be deported for cause, like committing crimes.

A green card is permission to stay in America for the rest of your life, but you have to renew the green card every 10 years. The only downside to not being a citizen is you can't legally vote in federal elections and you cannot commit murder.

Your friend has nothing to worry about. Don't listen to the bullshit artists on this site.

I'm no attorney, but if she has a green card, she should be fine. She doesn't get the same rights as a citizen, but it gives her the right to remain in the country. Although I believe she's still subject to deportation if she commits a crime.
