Can my partner lose his green card if we don’t live in the States?

I’m an American citizen but grew up in another country. I’m engaged now and know that when we get married my partner can get a green card. But, we don’t have plans to move to the States. Can my partner lose his green card if we don’t live in the US? It can be very helpful as we won’t have to worry about visa if we decide for a holiday there or plan to move.

Just stay where you are! Don't worry about the green card he can get a visiting visa easily to visit any one your visiting.

Only need a green card to stay there long term!

A green card by definition is permanent residence status. It's for residents.

By the way, a green card holder has to file US taxes, and they have to register for the draft.

If he moves to the US he can apply for a green card. But living in the US, or being married to a US citizen does not guarantee that he will get it. Although being married to an American citizen greatly increases the chances.
