Wouldn’t you be upset if Canada was saying it would make America the 11th Province?

No, but anyone failure with how the Canadian federal political system actually works would quickly reasons this would be a far worse out come for everyone particularly Canadians.
Canada basically just has a house of representatives. Without the need to win a majority support for any major office Canada has split itself into 5 parties and given how elections work.
That consistently means the largest minority ends up running Canada usually as a dictator.
If America were to partake in this system 90% of the seats would go to the united states either as a single province or 50 it doesn't matter as the Canadian senate is meaningless.
Whereas in the American Congressional system Canada's 2-18 Senators and and 40+ house seats. Would make Canadian's kingmaker In American politics between the 2 parties shifting politics dramatically in whatever direction they chose.
In the Canadian system America's largest minority whatever it happened to be would tottaly run everyone like a dictatorship. While Loyalist Canadian's might put up with this, this would probably result in a breakup of the union with much of the Southern or western factions withdrawing not because of Canada in influence but because of what coastal elites were doing with such unlimited power.
We could turn Canada into an economic powerhouse: Cartier Federation, ultimately subordinate to Washington. I could envision 3 or 4 Federal states**
1. The Island provinces including Newfoundland and New Brunswick would be "New Scotland".
2. Quebec and Labrador would be "Acadia" and be **available to cede to France like French Guiana and Corsica.
3. Manitoba British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta would be "West Canada".
4. Ontario would be Ontario Federal Region (Ontario, FR).
5. The Northern 3 Territories would be "Yukon Nunavut."
This would give Canadians identity with and from the USA. The combined states would give them regional pride.
One guy's idea.
Lets sit down and talk it through. Economically... big fish eat little fish...
by land mass... they sure have a lot of ice...
What's so special about being a Canadian? It makes no sense to have a 3000 mile border. whom came up with that?
Respect Canadian sovereignty, if you don’t like Canada stay the fuck out. It’s not Trump’s to take and we’re happy to kill any armed group coming to take it
I hope a paramilitary group comes and tries, we’ll cut their heads off and mail them to the White House
No, I wouldn't, just as I would feel when Denmark said the same thing and told Trump maybe they should buy America. Someone help us, please.
That would not bother me one bit. That would be no different than if you declared that you own the USA.

I'd laugh. Canada is only an important country due to it's proximity to the US. It's around 30s in terms of population and GDP and around the 50s for military. Nobody in the world would care about Canada if it weren't for US
Where do does the majority of your oil come from?
Okay. Remember when there was a period where Canadians wouldn't take US dollars, because it was weaker than theirs. But every other time when it's been stronger you gladly took it.
You think we need your shitty oil.
If Canada is so much better why do you guys come to the US for shopping?
Also, you seem to have forgotten how your government put out an arrest warrant for George W. Bush.
So you should be quiet.
Also, if we're so unimportant to you and we need you more than you need us, why did Ontario make this commercial begging to improve trade relations?

The U. S. is the largest Oil producing country, Canada is like a distant 4th.
en.wikipedia.org/.../List_of_countries_by_oil_production
Granted Canada may have more Oil in the ground America however is a lot better at getting what it does have out of the ground. Canada has always lacked the freedom, capital, market, labor, and technology to develop its resources in general.
This is why economist can comfortably predict the Canadian economy would explode if it were to join with the States. America bring to Canada all the economic freedom, investment capital, specialized labor, and market to almost fully develop Canada's natural potential.
Hence why Canadian nationalism is one of the dumbest economic moves in history. Look at a map of the development of North America and Canadians are clearly poorly adapted.
As Trump is forcing Canada's politicians to finally acknowledge, Canada's leadership and dysfunctional political system is what is really screwing over the Canadian people to an unprecedented degree. Indeed Canadians would be among the richest people on earth if they just acknowledged reality. This is really what Alberta did with regard to the oil industry which is why the Provence is soo Americanized. they brought in the American labor and opened themself up to American markets.
For this they are shunned and abused by the rest of Canada.
I just found out that Ontario buys steel from China and resells it to us at a higher price
Nope just them responding to Trump's dumb statements. And if they had the power to do it, I would welcome them being in charge instead of the MAGA nitwits. Bring it on.
I would laugh do hard I would have to catch my breath. Canada is like a rapist with no dick.
Get lost you stupid ugly troll
Block me all you want
Okay don’t. Glad we can have a conversation

I will be honest Canada needs to be destroyed. The more I think about it the more self-evident it is that they are to the extent they are different from Americans. Canada's cultural leaders are defined by nothing but being 'anti-American' IE hate and resentment.
This attitude is most strongly held in Eastern Canada where their elite are frankly racist against Americans.
Much to the detriment of their and those they rule's ability to adapt to the North American Continent.
They don't as fully embrace key 'American' ideas like capitalism, resource extraction, and development as much as they should have precisely because its what Americans did on the same land.
Instead they focus on minorities elevating them over everyone else's rights to the point of repressing the majority because "E pluribus unum" is an American idea. Canadians by contrast were defined by loyalty to an empire that exploited them. So why not bend over and be exploited by whatever master they choose?
Indeed the hostility towards Alberta is precisely because Alberta is has embarased their American side and friends more than anyone else at this point and prospered as a result.
That's why you will find city's further north in Alberta than anywhere else. All of which reinforces the core truth about Canada's 'identity' and cultural leadership. 'Canada' needs to be reinvented to face reality.
If that reality is they are English North Americans they should embrace rather than run away from whom they really are.
This Toxic anti-American idea of 'Canada' that has held her back for countless years needs to be destroyed for the good of the North American people of that land.
Maybe Canada is a sovereign nation and has the right to choose its destiny. Americans have the same right. Trump see’s a recourse rich country and says “I want it and I want it cheap” Canada isn’t for sale, nor does a wannabe dictator from NYC have the right to exploit Canada.
Trump looks to other nations and says I can exploit them just as I have done my whole life. Canada doesn’t welcome people like Trump, Canadians actually care about other Canadians and try to conduct business in a fair manner. The WTO has confirmed that Canada does not dump subsidized goods on the US markets like Trump insists.
Yes because we kicked monarchy out. The Canadians and Greenland have monarchy
Lol that'd be pretty dumb
No, it would be funny.
Good luck with that...
@noohair They could do it it just backfire badly on Canada and everyone else.
The Canadian political system is poorly designed, not even Canadian's like it as it constantly gives their largest minority dictatorial power and is only held in check by the threat of secession.
Which are unusually effective given Canada's 1 dimensional geography, and somewhat loyalist cultural history.
American States would be soo numerous, culturally rebellious they would just do it, and because we are geographically deep (no other state is threaten by the withdraw of any particular state) and each somewhat less consequential individually otherwise. Nobody would care enought to bend over backward.
There are no sacred cow states in America like Quebec. We don't like any particular state that much.
There is no way Texans would agree to bend over backwards to keep California in the union. They just tell California not to let the door hit them on the way out.
So such dictator al power as the Canadian Constitution regularly permits with a network of states as broad as America would fall apart fairly quickly.
Some who desire sepertism might even agree to it for that reason alone. One thing for sure tho, whom ever remained would not be free.
I’m not offended it’s so laughable
